  • Question on Iron & exercise.

Hi Everyone. I have a couple of questions on what to do with my current situation. This past wednesday I received some news from the OBGYN that has resulted in getting a hysterectomy this august. To make a long story short I have several things going on. The biggest annoyance is a polyp and a cyst that has been the cause of my bleeding every day. Here in lies my problem. I have been trying to get up early in the morning to exercise but I am so tired that I just keep hitting the snooze button. I feel that my loosing blood everyday is not helping matters. I do take a pretty good mulit from GNC that does not have Iron in it but I feel that with the daily blood loss that maybe I should take one with Iron. What do you all think . Is it that harmful if I do take on with Iron in it?

Im wondering if maybe that will help me to have some more energy to get some exercise done in the morning. My evening are so irratic that I cant stay on track or be consistent as I do not get home at the same time every day. The morning would be the best for me. I know how important exercise is so I really want to get on it and have a somewhat consistent schedule. I also want to be at a somewhat healthy weight prior to my surgery.

Im currently starting my 4th week and have lost 8-9lbs. I moved on form induction and started to add additional veggies last week. The weight loss has stopped for the last week or so but I think its from TOM which I currently am on.

Any advice you all have would be very much appreciated.

Re: Question on Iron & exercise.

I find it hard to get 100% of my iron daily and i'm not losing blood every day! I have avoided adding an iron supplement because of the negative things i've read about them, but you may be in a situation where it is quite necessary. If you want to try the natural route, high quantities of parsley, liver and such is good (use the Fitday nutri-search) As a supplememnt, you may want to give colloidal iron (in health food stores)
    Good luck!

Check with your Dr. What about your B vitamins? Also, ask him about the diet and your surgery. I don't know if any contraindications but it is always wise to ask ahead of time. This may sound funny but try some alfalfa sprouts. They are very low carb and full I mean full of healthy stuff. When I eat them I instantly feel lighter and refreshed! I use them in salad and with about everything. Plus, I grow mine at home it is very easy! Good Luck!

I have to take iron every day to keep my iron levels up. If I don't I get anemic. My periods are pretty bad.

The Atkins diet has been a great help though. Did you have your iron levels tested?
