    Re: L-glutamine ????

It is reputed to help raise metabolism and stop cravings. I haven't noticed much of a difference there, but I take it because it contains an amino acid that helps with retention and repair of muscle tissue when you lift weights. It also prevents your body from using muscle tissue for fuel as opposed to fat. Some studies also show a plus for your intestines. It aids in the integrity of the lining and can even help repair ulcers. If you google "L-glutamine benefits" you will find a boatload of information.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Dr. Atkins also recommended using it to help curb sugar cravings.

I think I have read the same for both. I like it because so far I have never come across any negative effects since it is a naturally found building block in your body anyway.

No, L-Carnitine supposedly helps with fat burning, and also is thought to help move lactic acid out of the muscles during exercise.

L-Glutamine also helps with fat burning, but also in weight lifting helping to repair the muscle and preserve protein in the lean tissue. I've used it for cravings too, Dr. Atkins actually recommends the powdered form 5 grams (heaping teaspoon) stirred in some heavy cream and some sweetner, perhaps to curb the cravings.

                  Re: L-glutamine ????

I first came across these suppliments after watching Dr. Perricone on PBS with his 'anti-inflammatory diet' approach. He recommends a lot of pills* to go along with a low-glycemic diet. I could never afford all of them, so I took none of them. If you look for specific information about the benefits of these additives I'm sure you'll find more than enough information.

Thank you everyone for you input! I will continue to research it, to the people that are using it how often are you taking it? I was a total sweets fanatic i could have ate nothing but sweets all day and been perfectly content, Since starting Atkins i have cut out all sweeteners of all kinds to see if that would give me a little bump in the weightloss, It hasnt gave yet..still struggling to just lose a pound per week since the first week of Induction I just finished my two weeks of Induction so this is very interesting!
