Sometimes I think I get too hung up on the destination and forget to celebrate the journey. I was thinking about some of the "moments" I have had since starting this WOE and figure that maybe we should celebrate some of the small stuff too. Some of my victories are poignant, some are hilarious but I bet everyone has a "moment" of their own to share that is just as clear to them as the "moment" they made up their minds to commit to Atkins.

Here are a couple of mine.

I will never forget how good it felt to sit in an airplane seat and not worry if I would need an extender.

Every time I lose enough weight that one of my fat rolls can no longer hold a pencil I celebrate (those of you in CC have already chuckled over this one).

When I lost enough to get back into my favorite 80's outfits I wore them all - one time. They looked ridiculous 20 years out of date but d**m it I was going to wear them one more time before tossing them. And I had a great laugh over it.

I love trying on "my size" in the store and finding out it no longer fits BECAUSE IT IS TOO BIG!

My mom saw me after being overseas several months and said, "You got your face back. It looks like YOU again."

Anyone else with a small victory to share?

    Great idea for a thread

    A few of mine were:

Being able to fold down the table on the airplane and balance a cup of drink on it.

Having the assistant in Evans dress shop (used to be advertised as 'Evans, the Outsize Shop' which looked great on the carrier bag ) say 'Sorry Madam, we dont have any clothes small enough for you!'

Not having to decide on a new car by testing whether I could fit behind the steering wheel.

Having one of my cousins exclaim after not seeing me for a few years 'Holy Sh##, where did the rest of you go?'
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I so identify with the tray table issue! I have shopped at Evans so I know what you mean. I feel the same about carrying around Lane Bryant bags here in the US. The worst was Catherine's. They have changed the name but it used to be "Catherines - the stout shop"! Yeah, that makes ME want to be seen shopping there!

So I guess I can add another one--I like to walk through the mall carrying a Macy's or Liz Claiborne bag instead of Lane Bryant or Catherine's Stout Shop! LOL

Mine was when I discovered that I'd dropped down a shoe size and gone back to my "original"!
Oh, and when I found I could get a ring off my finger without having to use soap was another terrific moment!

I went and bought a new pair of shoes and they were a size down too!! Amazing! The main moment for me was being able to fit into my old Florida shorts -- it has been 6 years and some may wonder how it is possible for someone to carry around clothes for 6 years but they were good clothes and I was too cheap to recycle them - stubborn too!
I think my face has gotten slimmer too but have not had too many comments!

*I looked it the mirror and saw these bones sticking out. Collar bones. I did not know they were there.

*I put on a bra and turn it backwards to fasten the clasps at the front and realize the bra is looser around the stomach area than it is around the chest area. I have a mid-line.

                I've had a couple.

*My face is coming back and my husband has even noticed
                *Co-workers are noticing the loss
*My "granny-panties" (TMI!!!! HAHA) are TOO big now!!! They used to be snug!
*I'm finally down to one extra tire. Grant it it's still a big tire and it needs to go but at least it's only one!

                I have a lot actually....Maybe I'll list more later.

                  Re: Small Victories

I'm taking a different angle on this one, but the most important moment for me was the first time I was able to be offered food in a very social situation and say "no, thank you." It was then that I knew I'd be able to do this.

It was so hard, btw. Got easier every time.

                    Re: Small Victories

for me i guess my small victory is....since restarting on june2 i've gone (and very proud to say)one month cheat free.

the other small victory for me is that i've commited myself to get up and get moving trying to get atleast some form of exercise in everyday.

these are not necessarily things that some would feel are a major thing as they are what we are supposed to do anyway, but for me they are a very big deal as i've struggled with these things in the past. they've gotten me into trouble and eventually caused me to return to my very unhealthy eating habits.

the other things i guess i consider small victories are that co-workers are starting to notice the weight loss, and i've also noticed that my spare tire that used to hang over the top of my pants is almost non existant now.

I have another victory I just noticed today!

I'm starting to depend on my hips keeping my pants up NOT my extra tire!!!! Yippeee!

Oh Chicklady, I remember the first time I noticed that I didn't have a small reservoir of water behind my back being held there by the dam of my body keeping it from draining out when I pulled the plug out!!
