  • induction complete!

My 14 day induction is complete and I am down 11.8 lbs. Now trying to decide if I should go to rung 1 or do extended induction. I am starting to crave fruit and I'm a tad bored with induction. I definately need to look at some new recipes and decide.. Also have to check out the rules for rung 1. I'm an old atkins dieter and the rungs are new to me.

    Re: induction complete!

Move on the OWL. From what I have seen, staying on induction can lead to later stalling or just plain boredom and not sticking with Atkins. The first rung is just more veggies so it isn't as scary as some of the others. But the rungs are very important to making this a WOL instead of a diet. In the OWL forum there are some great threads explaining OWL since I found that part of the book confusing.

Climb the rungs..especially as you are already getting bored and you are thinking about fruit (rung 4..I think). This way you stand a great chance of not cheating and a greater chance of success. Rung one is only 5 more carb grams of veggies...so nothing scary there!

      Congrats on the weight lost!

Thank you for the replies. I'm looking into rung 1 now. Little nervous. Seems I have always just stuck to induction so I know the carbs by heart.. I'm going to have to actually research some of the veggies now lol. I do look forward to some broccoli and zucchini.. yum

          Hi there,

Congrats on making it through induction! No mean feat!

I'd say move to OWL if you are bored, but take it slow - I wish I'd been slower to learn more about my body's reaction to foods.

Just to say, if I'm reading you right, you could have had broccoli and zucchini on induction, but on OWL you get more which is a great thing.

OOPs! Your right... I stuck to salads the entire two weeks.. most elaborate thing I put on them was a slice or two of tomato.. I really need to work on my variety. After telling you I had only stuck to salads, I immediately thought how boring, and no wonder I'm getting bored.. DUH

I stayed on extended induction. It works for me, for now at least. Good Luck. God Bless, Joe
