    No soy milk if you are doing Atkins 2002 version...which is what we do here. I think that is the nut rung??

        Hi - thanks Elsie150 - checked my atkins shopping guide and it was published 2005 after new diet rev - do you still think soya milk is a bad idea?
        Sherri - I'm female, 27, 7 stone - 5 ft 2 inches x - just want to get rid of the fat above my knees which is well lumpy - did not have this when was 6.5 stone so suppose thats my goal

          What type of exerise do you do? I believe that exercise will be what you're looking for to help with your knees. Something that would target them specificly. Goodness girl, you are small.
          We are our worst critic when it comes to our own appearences. What do your friends and family think of your appearance? I bet they say you look great, right? Take the fat goggles off. You really need to work the rungs. That way you're doing Atkins correctly. I can't see after 8 years on Atkins where you're following it correctly. What does your physician think of you now? I see mine on a regular basis as everyone should who is following a weightloss program. Are you?

                Melx,
                If you are 5'2" and 98 pounds you do not need to lose weight? Have you had an eating disorder? anorexia? Helping someone achieve an unhealthy weight is not what this board is about. If you are unhappy with appearance exercise might be in order and living low carb is good if you do or don't want to lose weight but in my opinion you should be eating on a high maintenance level, and exercising. Wit muscle you will gain weight but it will be healthy weight for your size.

                  I agree with Ginny! A goal weight of 6.5 stone would put you at 91 pounds, not at all healthy for someone 5' 2"! According to the BMI standard, a healthy weight for your height is 105-135. I strongly suggest talking with your doctor and a nutritionist about your concerns. With a long history of eating disorders in my family, I am very concerned about your health, sounds like things may have gotten way out of control for you. We all need fat and muscle on our legs, keeps our bones cushioned!

                  Please take care of yourself! We all encourage each other to be happy and healthy on this board, which includes putting on weight and muscle if someone is underweight.

                      Melx, a few things -

                      We go by the 2002 version of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution on this board. The 2005 book you are referring to is put out by Atkins Nutritionals, the company, and they have changed the plan from the way the doctor himself laid it out in the 2002 book. So that is why there is a difference in information.

                      Soya milk - According to the 2002 DANDR, soy is allowed on Rung 6 (legumes). Honestly, at the weight you are now, you should be eating from ALL of the rungs. If you decide to follow the 2002 version of the plan, you need to start working through those rungs to pinpoint food intolerances.

                      I think that it is totally unnecessary for you to be eating at such a low number of carbs. If you read the book, it will explain everything in great detail. I know exactly what you mean by the fat over your knees (I have that, too), but that is NOT there because you weigh too much. It is most likely a genetic predisposition, and while you may be able to improve the appearance with exercise, you may just have to learn to accept your body the way that it is. None of us are perfect, and each of us will have an area that we don't like on us. I think that you need to work through all of the rungs, as Doctor Atkins intended, and learn how to make this a healthy way of eating for the rest of your life. You really haven't been following Atkins... you have tweaked Atkins into your own version of lowcarb. And it doesn't sound healthy.

                      One last thing - how about you put your stats into your siggie. That way, they will show each time you post, and it will help us help you. You do that by going to the blue bar at the top and clicking on "Quick Links". Then you click on "Edit Signature", and add the information. Some things to include are age, height, starting date, starting weight, current weight, and goal weight.

                        I'm still not sure that post is real. I don't mean to be rude, but it just doesn't seem right to me. If it is real, maybe its Body Dismorphic Disorder (I know, I can't spell worth ****). We all need to love ourselves, no matter what.

                          In all fairness, perhaps the conversion from metric to standard came out wrong and the OP isn't really 5,2". I used to tell people (outside of U.S.) that I was "a couple meters tall" LOL, that would make me 6,5" (or something like that) and I'm only 5,1" hehe.

                            mitzimarie - thanks loads for clearing up my soya confusion - My post is real - Have suffered eating disorder before but just want to be able to eat lots and not put on weight, whilst loosing the fat/cellulite deposits from above my knees again - its not so much about weight for me as just getting rid of these. Thanks for all your help. trying no yeast, no soya, and having chicken, fish, egg yolk lots of olive oil and bit of veg - hopefully will feel better soon x

                              Melx...I am confused now. Here we try to follow a strict Atkins WOE...following the 2002 edition. Several of us have tried to help you...including myself. Why, then, would you not eat according to the rules followed in that version and only follow half the plan. I am referring to the fact that you say (once again) that you are only going to eat a bit of veggies? Here you have to eat 2 cups accepted veggies and 1 cup other...every day. That stays the same no matter what rung you are on. So because you seem to be intent on not following the way it is written to you are doing you own modified version of Atkins and as such all advice given here really doesn't count because it is given with our background of following the rules.

                              I am only pointing this out to you because there are so many here that have used their precious time and out of the goodness of their hearts have tried to help you. I wish you the best whatever way you choose to go! Everyone deserves to be happy. Good luck!

                                Please, give this WOL a real chance. Do it right, go up the rungs, and most important don't beat yourself up over your knees. I am sure you are beautiful no matter how 'lumpy' your knees are. The main focus should be on being healthy, not just thin. Good luck to you!
