  • Every day is looking a bit brighter!

Hello Everyone. Today is my 14th day. Still no Diet Soda, Caffeine Coffee, candy bar and Micholob Ultra! Not one trips through the drive thru for French fries. Those were my worst habits. I am feeling great! I have alot to be proud of. I am down 10 1bs. I do believe that I lost that all in the first week. I am sure alot of that was water weight. I have not lost anything the second week. Is this normal? I made revolutionary rolls this week. I am wondering if that might have effected my weight loss. Any opinions? My menu yesterday was 1 egg and 1 piece of ham, cup of decaf with splenda half & half, Atkins protein shake, handful of almonds, two small homemade pizzas on revolutionary rolls. I used a tsp. of marinara on each, low cal cheese, red peppers, onions, ham, olives. (Yummy!) Lots of Water and I herbal tea before bed.

exercise was 45 minutes of cardo at the gym.

Re: Every day is looking a bit brighter!

Congratulations. It is wonderful that this diet works. That is what I wake up thinking too everyday.

I think it is normal to see a bit of a pause after the first or second week. It is like the body sort of stops and is thinking about it but then it will start going again. You need to stick with the program.

Speaking of sticking with the program ... it does not look like you were doing a clean induction. You should not have almonds or those Shakes.

The Oopsie rolls are fine I think as long as you do not eat the whole batch (then you would be way over your cheese limit for the day)

Also with the splenda in the coffee, the shake and the sweetened oopsie you are probably close to or over the allowed artificial sugar limit of the day. So this is something to watch

Also be careful with low calorie product - they usually add lots of sugar to make up for the lack of fat and the product is less healthy and certainly not Atkins friendly.

Ham - is another product to watch out for . There is often sugar in ham and there is very likely a lot of salt. Salt may lead to water retention. Not a big issue but some people really finds that keeping salt consumption down helps them.

But these are just tweaks - overall I think you did great.

Here is the list of allowed foods if you are wondering

Oh ok, thank you. You know, I am the only one that will eat ham in my family. I have had a piece every day for the past week. I will buy turkey next time and maybe I should spend another week in induction with no almonds & sweetners or shakes.

What do you normally do for snacks? Any suggestions that are induction friendly. Congrats to you on your accomplishments. Great job. The diet really works when done right!

      Thanks so much.

Re: Every day is looking a bit brighter!

        Thanks for the compliment.
Treats was something that challenged me too. It still does sometimes. I think the trick is to find something on the allowed foodlist that you really like and then make that your treat. For me that is cream cheese - I LOVE it. The mock Danish for me is sometimes the ultimate treat.
I also (if I have any cheese limit left) like cheese crackers. Those really got me through induction.
And then there is pork rinds - for those "boy I need something salty" moments. I like to make "nachoes" with pork rinds. Just have to make sure the salsa is sugar free.
(Make sure you get used to reading labels)

Some of these recipes can be found on Linda's low carb site. (as well as some others you may want to try out)

        Here it is:

I think I would stay in induction one more week if I was you. (Actually that is actually what I had to do when I did induction. Without realizing it, I was eating some iffy foods and was completely clean and had to tweak. )

Thank you for those suggestions. I haven't tryed the danish yet. It looks good.
I will also check out Linda's recipes. I agree another week would do me good. I also hadn't realized that I should be counting my fats. I will spend another week to make
          sure I get it right.

          Thanks so much

Re: Every day is looking a bit brighter!

Okay...first of all....WOW...10 pounds lost when you only had 20 to go is AMAZING!!! Just so you know...we follow Dr Atkins 2002 edition here. There is a stickie in the main forum and lots in the induction forum to explain to you how it works. Part of that is as you know now...limits on the cheese and artificial sweetners. Also no nuts or shakes. Also congrats on kicking all those others habits during your two weeks.

I would suggest that because you only have 10 more pounds to lose that you either do one week clean induction or start clean with rung 1. You should also start climbing the rungs as you have so little left to lose now there are important lessons you need to learn there during OWL. I am jealous...LOL!

            Keep going!!
