  • stop dismissing water weight

Time after time I see people write things like "i know it's only water weight though...", or "im not going to be excited because I think it's mostly water weight"

Look, water weight or not, it was weight that you were carrying around with you, making it harder to do every daily activity. You think that if you lose ten pounds of water weight there won't be a difference in the way you look? absolutely there will be. Getting rid of 10 pounds of excess water weight makes the same difference in how we look and feel as if it were 10 pounds of fat.

Sure, it's easier to gain back (all we have to do is eat something salty, or not drink enough water), but it's just as easy to lose it again!

So let's feel good when we've got that water weight off and aren't bloated, and stop getting so down on water weight loss!

I agree 100%!! Tugging around extra water weight is uncomfortable & miserable! So, getting rid of water weight is just as much of a relief as any other kind of weight! Not to mention, what could be more satisfying as seeing the scale move right off the bat! That's motivation in my opinion!!

And of course, if you've had water weight loss, you've entered ketosis..... no more glucogen in the muscles to hold in the water.... and ketosis is a good thing

                    Carbless-
                    Thanks for this thread.
I have been enjoying bacon every morning..OK, I am addicted to it...and stuck lately despite a very controlled diet plus exercise. Maybe it's a lot of water. I just cooked up and ate the rest of the bacon like I needed a reason. I will start tomorrow (today) cold turkey lol. Or put it in eggs. And see what happens. I am thinking back to the first time I did Atkins - I did eat a lot of turkey and cheese for breakfast and did not have bacon.
                    Thanks again.

                      Re: stop dismissing water weight

While I agree with the basic point of your post- losing water weight does not look the same as losing fat.

There are also times when it's a GOOD thing to dismiss water weight. -Water weight is transient. It comes. It goes. Eat a little extra sodium? It's not worth the because it's only water weight. Put on a couple of extra pounds because you started a new ? Don't worry about it- it's only water weight. It's transient. It'll go.

When you're first starting out, dropping that water weight feels fantastic and shouldn't be dismissed! It's loss and it looks/feels good- but there comes a time when you can and should dismiss it. It's only water weight, and that's just not the same as fat!

same, i see a lot of the water weight downer posts in the introduction forum, a LOT of noobs post something like "i just started, lost 15 pounds, its all water weight though , etc.", and that's what prompted the post.
