  • Another newbie question :) .....

    I did the keto stick and it said moderate it was like a mauve pink color, should it be at large?..which is closer to burgundy, am I starting to burn fat at this level??

    If it's at trace or above, you are in ketosis. There are too many factors that affect how dark the keto stix become to worry much. I have never been darker than moderate and I am losing just fine...

      Moderate is fine, it means your body is in ketosis. A number of factors may contribute to you not getting deep purple, including metabolic resistance. If you've been a on diet before or if you have yo-yo'd in the past your metabolic resistance becomes greater and it is harder for your body to get into ketosis. Another factor is the time of day you do the test, (I think) that Dr. Atkins recommends you do it at night. There are many other factors too, and some people on these forums that I've read have never registered ketosis yet they can feel the difference in their bodies and are losing weight. So don't sweat it just yet 'cuz every body is different. None the less, as long as you are some shade of pink your body should be more or less burning fat for energy instead of glucose, which is what you want. Be happy with pink!!

          A lot of people on this site will tell you that being in ketosis is like being pregnant - you either are you or you aren't. As long as you are registering at all you are in good shape - don't worry about the levels.

            Don't worry! I have never peed on anything except a pregnancy test! LOL
            I know I am in ketosis just by following the plan. Don't sweat it, you will do great!
            Try to get 80-100 ounces a day!

              Ok, I'm curious Coribazz. I don't remember reading that The Good Doctor said to do it at night. Can you refer me? When I do it, I do it first thing in the morning.
