Re: What do you do when you lose your Atkins partner to carbs?

You're lucky to have a partner that wants to join with you. I wish mine would consider it for at least one second. And you have not really lost him. He went astray but perhaps he will find his way back. Tell him you care about him no matter what but that you enjoyed having him as your Atkins partner and if he wants to come back to it you would be thrilled.

LOL, Kellymch, I would slap his hands if he ate all my LC desserts!!

As far as being hard to eat differently in front of the guys, he really had no problem bringing a lunch that I made, but it may be harder with a menu of temptations placed before him.

Yeah, Jimmy, I have heard of that happening before, luckily its not the case with us, he wants to see me succeed, I am sure of that!

Julierama, I agree with you that it is unhealthy for him to do LC half the week and whatever he wants the rest, can't be good on the body. He has never been overwt in his life till the past year, it is not a good thing to get into. I have been overwt for 10 years, so I am probably way more motivated to suceed.

Desertrain, yeah, he is pretty competitive, I just have to look at it as an opportunity to get ahead of him! LOL

Thanks Liv, yeah, I did let him know I care and that he is welcome to join me again, but if he didn't I could live with that too. Guess he is going grocery shopping tonight, he just got off work at 7 after a 10 hour shift, hope he is still motivated, otherwise, we can get him on track when he gets home Thurs, if that is what he wants.

I think you have every right to feel disappointed and to even let him know that you are disappointed. I am a firm believer in having very short pity parties, get it out in the open, deal with it, and then move on. You wouldn't be human if you weren't a little hurt by his actions, but I'm sure he didn't do it to hurt you on purpose. He's a guy, after all!

You did the right thing coming here and talking it out with people that can help get your feelings sorted out and know what you are feeling.

I'm sure everything will be just fine when he gets home. You stay strong and you will be successful and he will be so proud.

        Sunny!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

The best way for you to convince him to come on back is to succeed. My DH has never responded well to my cajoling. I have found that the best way to get him on board is to start losing and looking good. Pretty soon he is in the gym with me and eating better because he doesn't want me to start looking good without him. LOL

He says I make him feel like he needs to do something but it is actually his own guilty conscience that he is not being healthy that gets him working at it. I don't have to say a word!

Do your thing. Start looking better, feeling better, and I bet he will start making an effort whether it is this WOE or just eating healthier.

As you know my whole family is doing this with me--and sure it is wonderful..they too may slip..they may also decide this is not for them..but I know I will always have their support! and my gaols will never change.

And you will always have his from the "heart"--full support--he knows your goals, your reasons and your commitment. you still will find so much strength from that!

I travel a lot..so very hard to be away from your family and those you love most...your home and comfort zone..and your support system...add to that stress--the fact that your on a strick diet...and you still need to perform your job at peak performance---there is a breaking point..expecially if this is the first or second time away for a long period. already he is aware..wants to go back to eating healthy and after a few days home---I am willing to bet will be right back into it.

LOL, that's how I think of it with my DH. He's soooooo not ready for a change right now, and that's fine, this is about me....but he doesn't nearly as much to lose as I do, so I'll just get a head start and he can catch up later.
Also, I noticed that you're going to nursing school! Congrats! I'm graduating from nursing school next May. I know what you mean about those scrubs! We have to wear white so I'm thinking whoever decided that this was the uniform we have to wear was a single, skinny man. LOL.

Thanks guys. Yeah, he never called back last night after dinner, so he may not want to tell me what he had, lol. I will just keep my mouth shut and let him decide to get back into the game. It has to be quite the challenge to continue the WOE on the road, that's for sure!

You are probably right about the skinny man making us wear those things! LOL! Vongrats to you too!!! I graduate in 2 years, but have to wear the scrubs for 3 days in August during my CNA course. They are still snug, I tried them on yesterday. I have actually resorted to going back to induction yesterday, nervous about only having a month to get into them! But I will do it!
