  • Can I pick your brain....

Hi all... I have had a bit of a weird week... I am feeling ill, its not the flu, and not PMS or anything like that. I just feel generally unwell. Upset stomach kind of, lethargic, a bit achey, an overall feeling of discomfort...and I am sssoooooooo tired.. I could seriously be sleeping 18 hours at a time.
I have had a dull headache...which tylenol is not touching.

I am in extended induction. I have over the last 2 days increased my water intake to a total of almost 2.5 L, I am drinking some diet coke but not much... like 1/2 can a day.

I did induction last fall for 12 days and felt similar to this... but I have been on extended induction since late April, I have lost 49lbs to date... actually I have lost 2.5 lbs in the last week. that is somewhat different. the most significant loss in a short period of time.

I was surfing around today and read a couple things about when you are losing weight you are releasing stored toxins into your blood stream... which can cause illness... that the body stores toxins from the enviroment in our fat cells. HMMMMM I wonder if that is what is up...

I would just love to hear from some others who may have felt sick at about the 50lb mark or if there is anyone with similar experiences.

I know it will pass... but I have not been doing my normal working out because I feel so unwell. just want to hear about someone else having these kind of ups and downs.

    Thanks
    Kathy

Maybe your body is telling you to start moving up the OWL carbohydrate ladder?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Can I pick your brain....

I had similar symptoms a few years ago (I was not on any program at the time), went to my doctor and found out that I had seasonal allergies. I asked her why would seasonal allergies make me so very tired, and she said that my immune system was under constant assault and it was wearing me out. She put me on Zyrtec, and I've been much better.

In your case, it could be time for you to move on to OWL and add in those first rung vegetable carbs. If that doesn't help, you should see your doctor.

I am not even close to having lost 50 pounds, but I feel great from this WOL, I think the above suggestions are really good, or you could certainly be releasing those toxins. Also, there is such a thing as too much water, if it is over a gallon a day, in some cases, it can actually dilute your blood, I learned that in a college First Aid class.

I have to agree with Creek. Your symptoms are exactly how I feel when my allergies kick in. I don't really get sneezing or congestion, but a general crummy feeling, tiredness, and headache. In fact, I have had it this week. Gotta check the weather patterns, are you sending down this way? Re: Can I pick your brain....

thanks everyone for your insight... i think it is a combination of all of the above... and allergies are something I have beed dealing with. I have experienced many envoiromental sensitivities over the last 20 years... and recently have had some reactions to some organic things.... SHRIMP... I now carry an epi pen... I had an allergy to shrimp and strawberries... so sad I know.. I love them both so much. I would not be surprised if allergies are the root cause of this whole thing... and everything else is just worsening the experience. I actually have an appointment for allergy testing in August... I hope that sheds some light on things for me.

I am feeling a bit better today.. still have the damn headache though...

              Thanks again
