  • Ummm I kinda cheated during induction

Today is my 9th day on induction. Today I had the uncontrollable urge for a LARGE Dr. Pepper at Sonic. It tasted great, but in the end I felt unsatisfied. I don't think I'll be doing it again. For one I felt terribly guilty, second, I know I just pushed my induction period to a longer phase and third it wasn't good enough to justify 1 & 2.

My plan is just to follow through as if I had not done this, except maybe to make induction longer by at least a week.

What are your thoughts? What is the best method for handling this drawback?

Well, live and learn! Remember this next time you want to cheat, that it wasn't worth it. This probably kicked you out of Ketosis, so be ready for 3 days of carb hangover and cravings. Don't give in!! I cheated on the 4th of July, and it took me 3 days to get back in Ketosis. Don't give up! We all learn from our mistakes. Drink lots and lots and lots of water. You can do it, you are worth it.
How tall are you? How much weight do you have to lose? Are you doing Induction by the book (except the soda)?
    Good luck to you.
Try to get 80-100 ounces a day!

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.

Was it a full sugar DP or diet? If it had sugar, be prepared for cravings to come back. Since you cannot undo what is done, just go right back to strict induction and carry on. Drink some extra water and do a little more exercise to work the cheat out of your system. Don't dwell on it, but decide in your mind how you will resist the next time the carb monsters try to lead you astray. This won't be the last time you are tempted.

The test strips have turned pink and they are still there (pink). I never registered above "small amount" with the strips.

Drinking more water is not a problem, in fact I'm craving it more now than I did. Unfortunately though, yes it was full sugar !

You may want to continue with induction longer, especially if your strips aren't showing much progress tomorrow. Good luck!

Hang in there!! It only takes 3 days. I cheated, and I came back strong. I have lost 3 pounds since my cheat, live and learn. It could have been much worse, it could have turned into a total carb blowout! LOL
2 years ago, all it took was one dinner at Olive Garden (and dessert) to kick me off the plan. Stuffed Manicotti and 7 layer Choc cake. Sigh. If I had just gotten right back, I would be at my goal weight right now. Like I said, live and learn. Keep us updated, please.

The ketosis strip is pink again and I'm not cheating anymore. In fact I had an omelette with a little less than a cup of collard greens mixed inside and 1/2 oz of cheddar cheese. It doesn't sound all that great but it was ok.

Anyways, so no more than two cups of salad veggies today and I should be fine. I'm drinking so much water that I feel like my eyeballs are floating lol.

You will know that you have had enough water when you slosh when you walk!

I've fufilled my duty then. I wonder if there is ever such a thing as too much water. I'm tired of feeling like a huge sloshing bucket of water. I feel full and bloated and constantly have to pee. That's not a great standard of life for me lol. I'm miserable.

On the other hand, think of all the wonderful exercise you get done getting up and running to the bathroom every half hour. Totally rocks.

PS if you feel bloated - go through your menu and check to see if you eat too much salt.

I never add salt to my food, but I do know that alot of food comes pre-packaged with an abundance of salt already lol.

try and stay away from anything pre-made.
lots of it has hidden salt and sugar and can make you feel super bloated.
if time is a crunch (as it is with most of us) try taking a couple hours out each sunday to prep your lunches and snacks for the week!
