  • Anything sweet to eat?

I am on day 2 of Atkins Induction and am having a craving for something sweet. How many carbs are in 1 chocolate chip? Can anyone reccommend something that they have tried? I have been very good so far but I am afraid of messing up. Thanks!

Steer clear of those chocolate chips! They have sugar and thats off limits. You can definitely have sweet things though (in moderation). One of my favorites are the cream cheese muffins. Be sure to exercise portion control though! Good luck! Google atkins dessert recipes, there are lots and lots of them!

2- 8oz. pkgs Philadelphia Cream Cheese
    1/2 cup sweetener
    2 eggs
    1/2 tsp. vanilla

Soften cream cheese about 40 seconds in microwave. Add other ingredients. Beat with mixer till smooth. Pour into 12 muffin pans lined with the papers. Bake at 350 for 20 min.

These are like a mini-cheesecake. I use sugar free davinci syrup in them instead of the granular splenda (saves carbs) They turn out wonderful! They tend to fall a little in the middle and are much much better chilled

I would try the Mock Danish (in recipe threads). Stay away from the Choc Chips! LOL
Most people say the best way is to starve the sweet tooth. I hardly ever get a taste for something sweet. I made the cream cheese muffins, and they lasted me forever. I finally had to share them at school with my non-Atkins friends. They all liked them. Give yourself the two weeks, you will be amazed. Have you read the book?

Don't step off the plan this early in the game. Making it through a clean Induction is a goal in itself and if you do it successfully, the change in tastes and the detox provided by Induction sets you up in a much better state of mind and state of body to continue successfully. Your body is missing the sweets and is trying to trick you into giving up. Don't let it. Hang in there, it will be worth it.

Making allowances on Day 2 is a little like an alcoholic or drug addict quitting their substance of choice and then saying ... just one more drink or drug. The two week induction is to give yourself a chance to detox and set the tone for your weight loss goal. Drink water, take a walk, kiss someone, do something, but don't eat anything sweet.

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

                Don't go there!
Try a slice of green pepper. Add a dab of blue cheese dressing.

Remember even though the carb count may be within your limits, if it has sugar, it is poison to this diet. (Added sugar that is as opposed to the natural sugars in most foods).

After severly limiting even artificial sweetners, I find that when I do eat something sweet such as sugarfree gum, it is overly sweet to me now.

Also when you get to the fruit rung, you will find a sweet pleasure in strawberries and blueberries, you never noticed before. It is amazing how much sweeter the allowed things are after cutting back.

When I want something sweet I can't eat I opt for olices or cream cheese. These kill the urge tremendously.

                    Re: Anything sweet to eat?

I don't know your story but I loved to eat sweets. Lived on it. It was a habit as well. Every so many minutes I put something else sweet in my mouth.

I found water was a good way for me to break that habit. Every time I want to snack, I drink water. It has helped. I used to have some water in every room and several bottles in the kitchen. So when I walked in the kitchen to look for something to stick in the mouth I was met by Mr. Water bottle.
For me it has been about breaking a bad habit.

Liv, I was thinking about that yesterday as I was contemplating why my appetite picks up in the evening.

                      And the answer is::: WATER.

All day long I suck down water. I love it. I crave it. I drink so much water, I go to the bathroom at least every 1/2 hour. Sent from God.

Around 6, I stop drinking water because I hate to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. voila! appetite increases. (or habit or whatever.)

                      Oh, well.

Thank you to all who responded. I will overcome the sweet tooth craving! It's been a rough two days but I can do this. Went to the doctor today. I have gained weight because I quit smoking back in May. I now weigh about 200lb! I am 5'6". I would like to drop down to about 150lb. How do you make the weight thing show up on your profile?

Do you mean in your signature? If so, go to the blue bar at the top, and click on "Quick Links". Then, click on "Edit Signature". There, you can add whatever info you like to your signature, and it will show up every time you post. Some good things to include would be your age, height, start date, start weight, current weight, and goal weight. If you want to add a ticker to show your losses, you can go to http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/ticker/ or www.tickerfactory.com and make one to copy and paste into your siggie here.

some lady offered me a mentos the other day and i had to spit it out.
it tasted pretty gross to be honest.
