  • Acceptance Speech:" I'd like to thank..."

The stars always thank every person they met on their way to the top when they reach the pinnacle of their career by winning an award or trophy. Who would you include in your acceptance speech when you reach your pinnacle on this WOE?

I know that if I wait until I get to my goal, I'll unintentionally forget half the people who played major roles in getting me there. Why not start the list now -- you can always add to it as you get closer and closer to the spotlight!

    ______

I for one would like to thank:

Kent (aka Bowulf) - never would have stumbled across this site or returned to Atkins if I had not stumbled across one of his YouTube videos.

Brook - for her incredible tranformation pictures that she has shared with us. A major motivation boost.

Brandee - who has taken it upon herself to stick to the plan (and the board) in an effort to keep me from quitting.

ariannasmom - who sent me a note of encouragement for no apparent reason, but at just the right time reminding me to do the same for others.

MarkE - for being my long lost clone (roughly same age, height, weight, and family status) who is my "yardstick" on this WOE, and unwittingly challenges me to stay even with his progress.

    *Lisa*
    - for her C25K progress meter in her sig which has me itching to get started on my first 5K.

julierama723 - for proving that a marathon is not out of the realm of possibilities for a fat, old man

not2late - although we got off on the wrong foot with my misunderstood "puritan" comment, she is always around to remind me about not eating enough veggies!

Tom - for providing this fantastic site (and for allowing women everywhere to use him as their excuse for retaining water!)

The hardest part of thanking people is that I panic that I'm overlooking obvious ones. The beauty of this thread is that I can add the rest of you as I think of specific reasons.

Feel free to add your own friends to thank with your reasons.

I'm so bad with names that I'm not even gonna try but this board (everyone) has been a big part of my life during this journey (but it's far from over). But I think the first person on my list would be my husband. I wouldn't have been able to do half the things I did in the last few years if it wasn't for him.
My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people.

Everytime I am tempted to use food to satisfy my frustrated desires, build up my injured ego, or dull my senses, I will remember,
That even though I overeat in private, my excess poundage is there for all the world to see.

So, have you recorded your video for the contest? And, don't ask what contest!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Well, it IS a huge sacrifice I'm making for you here... but I think you're worth it! There's one small catch, though... you have to return the favor... my failure will be on your shoulders if you quit. Oh, and one more thing... you have to wear all pink to my next wedding... right down to the socks Because I do plan on trapping some unsuspecting schmuk one day down the line... *haha*

As far as adding my thanks on here... there are too many to name. You and Trish have been my rock, and everyone else has been so informative and encouraging. I wish I would have found this place a looong time ago! *kisses to all of ya'll* hehe...

Too many to list here at ADBB, for me... but my number one "thank you" has to go to the man himself:

                      This is a great thread!!!
First of all I would thank my hubby for always supporting and loving me, no matter how BIG or small I am...(unconditional love is great isn't it?)
Then I would thank my two daughters...cause they give me a ton of exercise chasing them around all day!
Then my "biggest loser" friends Linda and Maria...(We have a competition going..who can lose the most wait by the end of Dec) ( I won month #1--yeah!!)
This board has been such a huge motivator to me..all of the post, inspirational stories and pictures....but there are a few "buddies" that have helped me SOOOOOO much, they probably don't know just how much!! GMAN ---I have such a huge appreciation of your inner strength, you are a true friend!! Brandee --Our little posts to each other keep me motivated and looking forward to the next weigh in...Joe....you are just super funny and also very motivating!

You said it Sallyseachange! I would definitely like to thank God for putting together such a cohesive group of supportive people who are willing to help others!

I would like to also thank my 15 year old daughter who was making smoothies last night with fruit juice and several different fruits. She offered my wife a taste of it (and it was good to her), but did not offer me any. Why? Because she said she knew that I could not have it! I thought that was so AWESOME she remembered that! She's my Smart Cookie!
