Re: Who here has/had less than 20 lbs to lose?

    Hi there,

I have about 15 - 20lbs to lose. I dont really know which but when i reach 15lbs I will decide if 20lbs would make me look too thin. I am 5ft tall so I should only be about 120lbs but I am 140lbs at present.

I am on day four of induction - yesterday i felt very strange a little fuzzy in the head and had a strange taste in my mouth but today I feel perfectly normal. I liked having the feeling i had yesterday because it made me feel like something was happening. Today I am worried that the feeling is gone! I went for a long walk this morning with the dog.

So far today I have had some really tasty food. I had 3 slices of bacon this morning with a grilled tomatoe and for lunch I had a fried chicken breast (in a little extra virgin olive oil) with spring onion, mushrooms and brocoli in cream cheese. It was delicous and the kids loved it too!

    Are you doing the induction?

    J
There is a skinny girl inside me screaming to get out but the carbs wouldnt let her....I want to know what it feels like not to have to breathe in to look slimmer all the time...I want to breathe out and not look 6mths pregnant..

aquaceri, the fuzzy feeling and the strange taste in your mouth is normal. during the first few days of induction as your body is detoxing from all those carbs being eliminated most people experience something we here at ADBB call the induction flu. the symptoms vary and from person to person, and also vary in the severity and usually stop after the first few days. the strange taste in mouth is belived to be one of the signs that your body is going into ketosis. it may go away after time, and some have it for a while.

Good luck, we can be buddies! haha

I set out to lose about 20lbs. After 2 weeks of not strictly sticking to the diet I have lost 8lbs.

I havent noticed much come off my stomach but my double chin has gone, my face looks thinner and apparently my love handles aren't so loving anymore! lol

12lbs still to go but i'm happy upto yet.

Re: Who here has/had less than 20 lbs to lose?

            Hey,

I am a month on Atkins. I have lost about 12 lbs. I didn't take my measurements
until 2 weeks ago. I am going to start measuring once a week. I have noticed by the way my pants are fitting that I have lost inches. Once you make it through
detox. You feel 100% better. No more cravings, a new found energy. I know that
the rest of my weight is going to come off slow but, I think the slower the better. I do not want the weight to come crashing back by slipping into my old patterns. I have gotten back into a gym routine. The YMCA opens very early and is open late.
I feel like I can find 45 min to 1 hour in a given day to go work out. I have found
the recipe board in this forum to be priceless. It has been fun trying out the recipes. I don't feel limited at all.

Last night was my first visit to a resturant since starting atkins. Went to Olive Garden with a friend after seeing Mama Mia. Had Shrimp scampi and a Micholob Ultra. They put a full basket of bread in front of me and I did not even desire a piece. I was nervous that drinking the beer would trigger a craving for more. It really didn't. I feel like I am in control. I like that feeling.

Cleaned out my pantry and my frig today. I gave away my slimfast shakes and bars to my neighbor. I know I will never do that again.

            I wish you much success.

Hi! I'm right there with you. I need to lose another 15 pounds myself. This is my first time on Atkins ever and I just started my second week of induction.

HI, I am also trying for 20, I'm on my 4th day of Induction. I feel like a bloated cow right now (TOM) so not sure if anything is happening yet but it's only a few days in. I have a bit of the off balance feeling but feel great otherwise!trying to get to 120. How is everyone doing so far? Have you lost any inches yet?

                  Hi Marlee,

Welcome. Stick with the Induction. You will find that you feel better and better.
I have had a great deal of success with Atkins. The first 10 came off quickly. It is very slow going now. I have settled into a consistant workout routine and have lost
inches off my hips and waist. My arms and legs are looking firmer. After years of low cal, low fat, yoyo dieting think that this something I can live with. The key to my success has been this forum. It is just endless information and support. Don't feel limited with the induction foods. Check out the recipe board for induction friendly recipes. Check out the Exercise challenges and get involved. It will make the difference.

                  Good luck to you.

I was wondering how weight loss was going for all of you who only had 20 pounds or so to lose. I'm on day 17 of extended induction and i'm stuck! I havent lost anymore weight since my first week on induction. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey it has been slow going. 1 lb at a time. I would recommend increasing cardio and incorporate strength training. I am losing inches and firming up. I am going to get out of my daily food routine. Morning and lunch have been the same thing everyday. I think my body has gotten to comfortable with it. I also eat dinner early and am going to try an atkin's friendly snack a couple hours before bed to keep my metabolism going.

                      Good luck.
