  • Few Questions

I'm on my 3rd day of the Induction phase and I've lost 6 lbs so far!! Which is great but I want to give my daily menu/routine and was wondering if anyone could let me know if it's sticking to the Induction rules.

Breakfast: 2-3 eggs with 1/4th cup of onion and crumbled bacon pieces
    Water

Lunch: Frozen hamburger patty w/ 1 chesse slice and 1 slice of tomatoe
1 cup salad mix w/ ranch OR 1 can of tuna w/ mayo and a tsp of
mustard with a hard bolied egg or two

Dinner: Same as lunch, either the first option or the second option

Snacks: 1 or 2 string cheeses. One string chesse sometime between lunch and dinner and a second string chesses, sometimes at night after work before bed.

( I work from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm and for some reason I get hungry before bed. Is it ok to eat 1 string chesse as a snack a couple hours before bed or will that stall weight loss?)

Also, I've been drinking 1 or 2 cans of diet pepsi a day and still lost the 6 lbs. Is this too much diet soda?

And what vitamins should I be taking?

Workouts: I do atleast 60 min. of cardio such as fast walking or elliptical 5-6 days a week and squats, lunges and crunchs. (I was doing this routine before starting atkins and did not work out on the days since starting Induction, but I plan to continue my workout routine starting tommorow.)

    Re: Few Questions

You seem to be doing great! Your menu matches mine pretty well and we both have around the same ammount of weight to lose too! The aspartame and caffeine thing will come up as something that Dr A says you shouldn't use because it can stall weight loss. I do drink diet coke, but if you can switch to diet rite soda it's made with splenda. I am slowly getting rid of the diet coke because I just know I drink way too much (2/day on weekdays and like 4 if we go out to keep myself from drinking something else on the weekends) Welcome though! And I'm sure you'll get better answers from people who have been here a lto longer than my 2 weeks!!!! Good Luck!

      Re: Few Questions

Hiya! Your menu looks good, basically, but for tip top results I'd do the following:

      - Ditch the diet pepsi (diet drinks are known stallers for some)
      - Increase the veggies a wee bit.. as you're a tad short
      - Make sure your veggies are nutrient dense (either 1 cup of "other veggies" or salad veggies that are other than just lettuce, which is basically little more than chewy water nutrient-wise)
      - Make sure things like string cheese and your hamburgers don't have carby fillers lurking in them (sorry, I don't know much about products over in the US... pretty different where I am)
      - Take a good all round multi-vitamin without iron.
      - Eat whenever you feel hungry (even late at night is ok) to satisfy hunger, no more, no less.

      Happy losing!

Hi GiRlIe_GiRl, looks like a good menu. One thing i would like to nit-pik is the salad mix. Do those come with croutons? Other than that, the cardio and things already mentioned set you on a firm foundation. Way to go on the 6lbs.!!!

Thanks everyone so much for the tips. I like diet pepsi but I can defintely let it go. And the salad doesn't have croutons. It's the prepackaged fresh express iceberg lettace mix which is moslty lettace, a little bit of carrots and reg cabbage.

          Thanks again!

            Re: Few Questions

No carrots! LOL they are high in sugar. I like to get the loose leaf lettuce, and shred it myself. I agree, no diet soda. It is full of chemicals and it just isn't good for you.
Try to get 80-100 ounces a day!

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.

              Re: Few Questions

              I agree...menu looks great.

My one concern that you just explained was the salad, lettuce mix. Carrots are not allowed during induction, no matter how tiny they may be ( they're 8th rung veggies on the OWL).

Trust me on this one, the salad mixes with carrots in them will make a difference in having a clean induction and giving your body a chance to clean up it's act before you start putting the other foods back in your body.

and...Great job on getting that exercise routine in your life!

                Re: Few Questions

WOW! I didn't even think of the carrots. The mix my hubby bought definitely has carrots in it. I was picking them out for a while (I HATE RAW CARROTS) but stopped because it was such a hassle. I suppose until that bag is gone I will continue to pick them out!
