  • I think I may have lost my taste for carbs ... :/

Well July 31st was my Birthday so I decided to "cheat" during that one day. We had pizza, cake, crackers ...etc. I also had taco bell for lunch. I was looking forward to this day and was excited that everything was going to taste so great since I haven't had it in a long time.

    Guess what?

It wasn't that great. The food didn't taste that good to me and kinda gave me a sick feeling. I can't describe it. My fullness from the carbs was a unsatisfying fulfillness. I almost can't wait to get back on the diet.

Back on the diet today (August 1st), but I was wondering if anyone else has experience this?

Good news!!! Yes...I've heard other experiencing this too.

Now it'll be that much easier for you when faced with temptation. And... the longer you do Atkins, the stronger the carb aversion should get. It's a win win situation.

Yes, I remember this feeling too. It actually got to the point where I was so full all the time that I didn't want to eat at all! I had to actually force myself to consume food... even food that I love like tuna. My "bad" cravings have nearly disappeared since starting Atkins. Thankfully my "good" cravings have returned. Isn't it great?!

      Oh, and happy birthday!

Yes, I really don't like anything sweet these days, nor anything starchy.

I often look at other people's plates and think "How disgusting! How can you eat that goo."
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
        he said, 'Don't count calories.'

Happy belated birthday, by the way! !

Sick to my stomach just barely describes the feeling I had with eating the high carbs in breads, crackers, starches, rice, etc. After going to long with out it, it's really hard to eat it and not feel that way.

Three days is usually what it takes for my body to burn up 1 days worth of higher than 50 carbs in my body when I'm in the fat burning mode. When I've eaten off plan for longer than a day...it just takes a lot longer.

I think it might take some people longer, but just know you can lower your carbs back down to where you were for a few days and then start back to the rung you were on (Dr. A mentions that in the OWL part of the book---what to do when you jump off the Atkins bus).

I remember when I fell off the wagon after doing strict Atkins for over a year, I would almost get high off of high sugar/very starchy foods. It's hard to describe, maybe similar to a little caffeine buzz. I guess it's the sugar high we talk about kids having, but man, it was weird!

I would also feel quite miserable when my blood sugar dropped a few hours later - I seem to be pretty sensitive to the crashes, and I love how stable it is when I'm eating right!

I think bread, pasta and other baked goods are DISGUSTING.

I will never find bread to be disgusting, but I find myself not the least bit tempted by sweets.

Which is a wonderful change considering how many trips to the donut shop I had made recently!

And a 1-cup bowl of soup is quite filling, thank you.

Tonight I am cooking steak, and frying the family some home fries. After theirs are cooked, I will drop in my turnips and fry them up. A nice salad all around and we are good to go!
