    Howdy!

I am on day 4 of induction. I was finally able to go shopping and pick up lots of tasty low carb items. I also started fooling around with FitDay, so I thought I would use it to plan today's meals, adding anything extra I had during the day just to get the feel of the application. After planning the day, I noticed I ended up with only 9 net carbs (if I am calculating correctly). I was curious to see if this was anywhere in line with something that would actually work for induction. I guess I wasn't sure if it is best to come in near 20.

I am still not very good with the FitDay application, so I added all the extra ingredients seperately. Like butter and mayo. Hope that is how it is supposed to be done.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

    Re: Quick opinions

hello, welcome to this wonderful way of life. i wish you much success on your journey. as for the menu you posted, it looks ok. 9 net carbs are a little on the low side, most people are generally somewhere between 12-18 net carbs a day. remember you don't have to just eat lettuce alone to get your salad veggies in. i like to add all kinds of stuff to my salads. you can add some cucumber, mushrooms, peppers, radishes. you are allowed a total of 3 cups of veggies in a day, either 3 cups of the salad veggies or 2 cup salad veggies and 1 cup other veggies. so add some other veggies with your dinner or lunch like maybe green beans, broccoli, or whatever you like. you can even add tomato, onion, broccoli, and cauliflower to your salad.

try not to eat all your veggies at one time, spread them out during the day along with your meals.

    hope this helps

Keep in mind that 20g of carbs in a day is just the maximum. You most certainly can be under, but you may want to try for more than 9g. Moniegail is spot on, ditch the 2c of lettuce and add other higher carb veggies. Lettuce has almost no nutritional value so if you're using more than half of your veggie requirement for the day on it, you aren't getting the vital nutrients you need to keep your body healthy and in optimal weight burning shape.

Just making that small adjustment will get your carb count closer to the 20g limit. Eating fewer than 20g of carbs will not make you lose any faster, it will just get you into ketosis which is the point of induction.

Also, make sure your ham and sausage have no hidden fillers that aren't on the induction list. They can be sneaky little stallers.

I agree -- more varied types of veggies will do you good. Also, I recommend you do shoot for much closer to 20 grams of carbs (20 ideally). That's low enough to be in ketosis; 20 is recommended for optimal health. Good luck to you!
