  • I have some questions....

    Hi there,

    I have done atkins before successfully but that was in 2005 -- I tried a few times this year and was unsuccessfull -- I think I was way off on what I was doing...

    Anyway, a few questions:

    1) Is the rib meat seasoned fajita meat okay?? It is 1< carb - with <1 sugar.. can I just count this as a carb??

    2) As far as the veggies -- how many carbs would one cup lettuce be VS the 1 cup of a restriced veggie like a zuchini be? (need this for tracking)

    3) I know diet pills are not needed... However, I am curious if anyone knows anything about Alli and Atkins...

    I've heard bad things about alli, why not just try the atkins first?

    as for the zucchini question, there's a carb gram counter at the front of DANDR that should have the info. that said, the site I checked said 2.8 (net) grams of carbs for one cup.

      Welcome back!
      1) Not sure what that is but if the sugar is added sugar (meaning sugar is listed on the ingredients) than you really shouldn't have it. When in doubt, make it yourself.
      2) 1 cup of shredded romaine lettuce has about 1 net carb. 1 cup of raw chopped zucchini has about 3 net carbs. I highly recommend using a nutrition tracker like fitday as it will make these calculations much easier. The DANDR 2002 edition comes with a carb counter with all of that information as well.
      3) Diet pills are unhealthy and don't work. Don't waste your money.

      If you haven't read the book yet you really should. Its a valuable reference and it will help to ensure that you are doing the program correctly. Atkins works but not unless you do it by the book. Good luck!

        To check/track carbs and calories, you can either use fitday.com or calorieking.com.

        You DEFINITELY do not want to combine Atkins with Alli. Alli is designed to help your body get rid of extra fat. I think it recommends no more than 15 grams a day, or something like that. Whatever it is, if you combine it with Atkins, you'll find yourself in the bathroom constantly!

          I am not good at entering info in on that fitday..I just tried... any tips on entering things when you make them??
