  • I am so mad!

    I just got into an argument with a coworker because of his comment on how my WOL is bad for me in the long run. Eating saturated fat is bad for me, yada yada. Studies show it is bad for me. I looked him in the eye and said you are misinformed! My WOL is what it is and I'd bet anything it is better for me than his eating habits....junk...junk. and more junk. He munches from the moment he sits in his desk until he goes home.

    I am so MAD..some people just don't have a clue!

    You know, I would like to know where people get off thinking that the way we nourish our bodies is any of their business. Atkins when done properly is a well balanced diet. FAR FAR better than the non-nutritive garbage the typical nay-sayer shoves down their pie hole on a regular basis. They could be compared to a human garbage disposal but do you see them having to defend themselves the way we do? For cryin outloud. I don't think people addicted to drugs have to defend themselves in the same way we do. After all, "it's an illness". I'd be interested to know if this person has an addiction to cigarettes. And if they do, how well do they think their body is fairing through THAT ? GRRR... And you know, at least we are doing something about our health/weight. What is this person doing? Has he/she even taken site of a piece of exercise equipment or taken any steps to improving his cardiovascular health? I better stop now..GRRR

      Hindsight is great.....next time, smile and say "Well thank you for YOUR point of view" and walk away. It's never productive to argue with people who refuse to read past the headlines. Now, if they're family and you have to endure their presence, sometimes it's best just to smile, nod your head, and ask them "So, how's your daily diet working for you?"

        Sadly, sometimes it is simpler just to tell people you are eating 'low carb.' They get so weird about Atkins! but no one seems to freak if you just say 'I am going easy on the carbs,' or 'I cut out white bread and sugar and starchy foods.'

          If anyone ask about my diet i just tell them I am on a high Protein diet. Atkins and even the words low carb have gotten a bad rap that everyone assumes you will gain all the weight back and that is bad for you over the long run. So when I say I am on a high protein diet they usually don't associate that with Atkins or Low Carb.

            When people ask me about my weight loss (it is starting to be obvious) I just smile and tell them I'm "taking better care of myself" and "eating lots of meat and salad!" That is the truth.

            I don't need to debate what is healthy living and what isn't, with a bunch of uneducated, naturally thin, metabolically balanced fruit and granola eating health nuts! Boy that felt good!

              Awe, don't mind they nosey's. Who's business is it anyway? Just remember that a lot of these people are not equipped with the same knowledge we have, so they are simply incapable of acknowledging the benefits. It's not their fault
              My trainer kinda made a cringy face when I said I was doing Atkins. He was like, "I don't disagree with high protein, but you really should eat your carbs, not so much in flour or starches, more like in spinach and lettuce and veggies" uhhhhhh, isn't that what I'm already doing? LOL!
              Like I said, they just don't know.....

                I like that I may get to use that this weekend, when I eat with some friends. I will be bringing something induction friendly to eat, and will only eat that (and salad if they have that) and am fully ready to hear a lecture I will say thank you for your thoughts and change the subject.

                  Ive had people do me the same way. The will say things like "Man you know your cholesterol is going to go through the roof.." or "Hey man, didnt you know the man that started that diet died from his own diet?"

                  Just stupid crap like that. I started doing like a previous poster said and just say im doing low carb and exercise when people ask me what im doing to lose weight.
