  • Jogging and atkins

I started jogging last week, I jog every day for about an hour. My weight isn't changing! Any ideas?

    Re: Jogging and atkins

I've been doing atkins and training for about a month now (I started running a bit before atkins, though). From what I've read, the biggest help in losing weight when running is to do what's known as interval training. Basically, a couple times a week, you run differently than a normal, steady-pace run. You have to run at a MUCH faster pace than you normally would, hold it for an amount of time you can handle, and then slow down and rest. Take as long as you need to rest, then do the same thing again. Try this once or twice a week (keep jogging at a steady pace on your other days, though), and you will see a DRAMATIC improvement.

As I understand, your body can get used to running at a regular pace, thus you will not lose much weight. By adding in these intervals, you can surprise your body and make it work much harder, thereby forcing it to burn fat for energy! Plus, you'll notice that your "steady pace" will get better and better the more you do.

    Good luck!
