  • goal question

i think part of my problem with weight loss is not having a goal weight.. when i first started loosing weight i was 230lbs and got stubborn and refused to buy new clothes so i worked out til i lost enough to fit back into my pre baby clothes(which ended up me weighing less then before i got preggos)

so my next real goal is 160 so im out of the overweight catagory with some leg room..

i have never been skinny before so it makes it more difficult for me to picture myself being there. im tall even when i was fatter(ha) drs always told me you i never looked like i weighed that much.

so how did you pick you UGW?

i know the ranges for my height and age but everyone carries weight differenly.

    Re: goal question

Like you, in the beginning....my first goal was to lose my pre-baby weight from my youngest (she's almost 10 and just before I gave birth to here I tipped that scale at 245...but I don't count that as my "before" weight because it was all her and stuff---well 10 pounds of it anyways ), and then lose the pre-baby weight from my oldest (because, yes, I still had a ways to go) and she's 13 now. I weighed 175ish right before I was pregnant with my oldest, but I know 165 was what I weighed when I was the happiest and felt healthy.

Despite what doctors and charts said, I knew that if I lost more weight at that weight, I'd look guant and unhealthy for my frame (medium) and height (5'7"ish). Besides, I was happy and healthy with who I was and didn't think I needed to try to push myself to the extremes to get to the 150s that the doc and charts said I should be at.

My goal now is 165 and I weigh 187 today, and yes, it's taken a long time to get to this point. That doesn't mean I'll stop exericising and eating right when I get to that goal; it just means that I'll know that I'm within my healthy/happy range. And who knows, maybe I'll be fortuante enough to lose past that goal---maybe.

So, maybe reason with yourself to what is healthy for you and figure out what you know is a healthy goal over all. What one person's goal is may not be the same or best for another.

    Best wishes!

Yeah i dont think weight chars are really all that accurate... I am 5'3 - 5'4 and i think that me at 120 - 130 would be too skinny?? i dont know though i guess i'll see how i feel about it when im at 145 (my goal)

        Re: goal question

My goal is around 130 and then I'm going to reasses how I feel etc. I don't think those charts are all that reasonable. I'm 4 11 and one chart has me weighing no more than 120.. I think that will be too thin so I will aim for 130 and then like I said reasses.
