  • The nicest thing anyone ever said to me...

    Hi Everyone,
I just got home from work and noticed that we managed to fill five pages of all the hateful stuff that we remember people saying, doing, etc. that made us feel awful about ourselves. I think we need to get all that yuck out, but now that we have...
How about we fill five pages full of the best things about ourselves. Or the nicest compliments we ever got. Replace all the yuck with some positive energy? What do you say?

I'll go first. I absolutly LOVE my calves. They look amazing in high heels, and my husband tells me so!

    Your turn!
    xo,
    M.

This is a good thread to start! Thanks Michelle, it's time we accentuate the positive!

Just a couple of weeks ago when we were doing a cleanup project (from midwest flooding), and I was down there in shorts and removing sandbags, a young woman in her early twenties (I'm 51!) said that she wished her boyfriend had as nice of legs as I did! You get good muscle tone from biking and hiking, I guess...

Anyway, that was very flattering and definitely a Non Scale Moment for me.

I'm sure there are others with better stories. So, let's hear them!!!

Calling it GOAL at this point. I'm happy with where I am now and hope to stay there, or maybe even take it down a little more.

I have good hair. Of course at 44 that is with a little help from Ms Clairol! (It is shorter and bouncier at present.)

I get complimented on my smile, and often told my whole face smiles. I personally believe you can encourage someone with just a smile, so I try to use it liberally.

Ok, continuing with the legs theme, I just today noticed that I have not one, but TWO clear lines of muscle indentation on the outsides of my thighs! top and bottom. wow. I don't think I've ever seen that on my body before.

So I'm complimenting myself on that! (7 months of vigorous exercise and 26 pounds gone sure helped!)

M thank you very much for starting this thread. I am big on the positives.
One for me: My sister-in-law said I am noticeably skinnier ... and I am!

I guess the best feature I have is my eyes or so my Husband tells me. He says they look like cat eyes. I personally like my legs, not because of looks but because they are so strong. I can pick up the whole stack of weights at the gym with my legs. Most of the guys can not do that, but they have me in reps. But, the knees suffer if I do it too many times.

My husband always tells me that I am beautiful..such a great man.

Today he said my rear and chest were shrinking, that was the sweetest thing I have heard in a long time since I have been working so hard

I was given a "cool mom" high five at a concert I went to from a teenage girl. I had gone to a Blue October concert with a couple friends and we ended up crammed up against this young couple that was there. You can't be that close to someone and not at least start a conversation. So anyway, toward the end of the concert the young girl turned to me and said high fives for cool moms.. I couldn't believe it. Had to rush home and tell my 13 year old who was already unhappy with me that I didn't take HER with me lol.. it was great!

last year, my then 10 year old grand daughter asked me why I was on a diet. I told her I was hoping to get as skinny as her (young, ultrathin) mom. She looked at me seriously and said very earnestly, " you are doing a good job maw maw, and if you keep it up, you will really get there! You will!" Bless her for believing in me against all odds.

Re: The nicest thing anyone ever said to me...

I have another one...not food/diet/exercise related! I work with juvenile delinquents, and since I'm the one who has to report the the judge whether they're doing well or not, I'm not always thier favorite person. Last week one of the 17 year old tough-guys I work with came into my office with a problem. As he was leaving, he said "Thanks for looking out for me, miss. You're alright for a white lady." I smiled ALL DAY about that!
                    Happy FRIDAY!
