      Re: almost there

Congratulations! I am also in the beginning stages of the atkins. I started in at 289, lost 11 lbs by my 11th day and by my 16th day I gained back 2 lbs. (sigh) I did cheat one meal but not to bad. didnt think i would gain weight because of the one meal and now iM at my 18th day and no weight has come off. What are you doing to get the weight off?

        Re: almost there

        1st off congratulations!!!! it's really a change isn't it.
basically for me, i've been drinking tons of water- tons of it!!!!! also taking that fiber powder every once in a while, because i haven't been going to the bathroom (sorry). but it's true.
i break up my meals into several smalls ones throughout the day.
lots of cauliflower- i tried that cauliflower pizza, but i need to learn to make it right cause it was just awful
i am making sure i am getting the veggies in and doing the recipes
because if i don't, i will get tired of the diet
so...let's see.....i don't eat breakfast, but it's because of my 5am-2pm crappy schedule at work- so my first meal is at 10:30 and it's eggs and bacon and
for dinner i have a little bit of steak with swiss cheese, cauliflower, mushrooms, and onions..
and i will break that steak up into a couple meals over the course of the evening
i do eat jello when i want sweets because for me it's better than going back to my old ways (sugar-free) of course....that calms me down
tons of water all throughout the day...that never stops
i don't drink soda...i haven't had a diet coke in about 3 months---and i'm never going back (so i'm sure that has helped me)
i check sugarless gum because of the metallic breath.
        hmmm..what else- i don't eat out.....nothing....that has helped.
cooking is new to me, but totally worth it...
        how are you doing it???
        great job!!!!!!
        me

          Re: almost there

Well to be honest, I stop at jack in the box every morning on my way to work since I have to be there at 6:00 a.m I order a bunless double sausage w egg and cheese sandwich and a med unsweet tea w lots of ice. Then for lunch I play it by ear and what ever the group is going to eat, I then decide what i can eat. then dinner is pretty easy, sometimes tuna, or rolled up salami w cream cheese but i always eat brocolli and cucumbers...but maybe this is why i didnt lose any more this week....

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Great job! Making changes is a hard thing to do---but you've done it with this way of eating and I bet you'll do great with changes in jobs, too.

                Re: almost there

Great and awesome job, iwillbethin29!! You seem to have the system down pat! Don't get discourage, you have plenty of time to drop those last few pounds before December!

I read your regimen and one thing I did not see was where you have incorporated exercise into your program.

Are you doing any kind of physical activity? Any cardio? Weight training? Walking?

Hopefully you have and read Dr. Adkins' New Diet Revolution, 2002 version. In it he mentions that exercise is NON-NEGOTIABLE. He was so right. I lost 18 lbs. during induction because I had a serious and consistent exercise regimen. Consider adding one to your program if you have not already.

Way to go on your current and future success! Go for your dreams!!

                Regards,
