  • Jogging and Atkins

    Hey Guys -

I've been blowing my diet for months now. I've been on a huge project and eating miserably. I've popped on pounds.

But - I've got a whole lot more time and I'm going back to induction tomorrow. But, I've also been working my way up on the treadmill. I'll be walk/jogging for a while.

For any of your runners out there - can you make progress running while in induction?

    Thanks!

    Hey Thinker,
If you're looking to start running I suggest the Couch to 5k program. It's awesome I was soooooo not a runner my whole life and now I was able to run 20 minutes straight today! I'm working up to 3 miles!! Woo hoo!

Here's a link to the program:

Also there's a C25k thread on the board with a lot of awesome people! I've learned that now that I'm running my metabolism is getting back into gear. When I'm not eating right but still running I'm at least maintaining my weightloss. I restarted Atkins this week and waiting to see the results with correct eating AND running! Woo hoo!

Yes ... you will make amazing progress!!!
In fact running during induction expedites everything ...
the running helps reduce the appetite and weight loss
the diet helps lose weight to help you jog/run better ...
      both make you feel amazing.

I have progressed to being a marathon runner all the while basically eating Induction level of carbs. The myth that you need carbs to run is just that. I eat about 30-40g per day still, and average about 25-35 miles per week when not training for a marathon. Just start slow with a run-walk method, and you'll be amazed at how far you can do. I know I am.
