Hi faolteam, if you absolutely have to have gum, find one sugar free. Most sugar replacements are known stallers. Nuts are not allowed until after induction on the nut rung of OWL. Macadamia are preferred nuts on owl.

I don't think any of the gums available our side of the pond are made with 'legal' sweeteners

Same goes for the sugarfree jelly packets too - the ones I have seen (Rowntrees & Asda) both are made with aspartame. However all is not lost - Dr Atkins himself never recommended the sugarfree jello (jelly in UK) but suggested we should make our own using unsweetened gelatine, which IS available!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

There are loads of recipes around which a google search should find for you but most of them you will have to adapt by substituting sweetener for any sugar used in the recipe as well as maybe changing some other ingredients.

I sometimes just make a plain jelly adding splenda and some flavouring essense (check for no alcohol in the essences) or davinci sugarfree syrup to water along with the gelatine.

Here is one specific lowcarb recipe I found here Sugar-Free Chocolate Mousse - Low Carb Recipe
Sugar-free low carb chocolate mousse is rich and creamy with less than 4 net carbs per serving. The slight bit of gelatin helps stablize the mousse so you can make it in advance. Fast and easy to prepare.
              Prep Time: 10 minutes

              Cook Time: 10 minutes

              Ingredients:
              • 1 tsp unflavored gelatin
              • 1 Tbsp cold water
              • 2 Tbsp boiling water
              • 1 cup Splenda
              • 1/2 cup unsweetened powdered cocoa (Ghiradelli preferred)
              • 1/8 tsp salt
              • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
              • 1 tsp vanilla extract
              • Optional topping: whipped cream lightly sweetened with Splenda
              • Light dusting of unsweetened cocoa powder
              Preparation:

Chill a medium mixing bowl in the refrigerator.

Meanwhile, place the cold water in a small bowl. Sprinkle with gelatin and let stand 1 minute. Add boiling water and stir until gelatin is dissolved. Set aside.

In the chilled bowl, combine Splenda, cocoa powder, salt, whipping cream and vanilla until roughly mixed. With an electric mixer on medium speed, beat mixture until it becomes stiff. Do not over-beat or you will end up with chocolate butter. Beat in the gelatin mixture just until combined.

Spoon chocolate mousse into decorative dessert dishes or martini glasses. Chill 1 to 2 hours before serving. Top with whipped cream lightly sweetened with Splenda and a sprinkling of cocoa powder if desired.

May be made a day in advance.

Yield: 4 (1/2 cup) servings with less than 4 net carbs per serving

                    Hi there,

This Sticky will explain how the Carbohydrate Ladder in OWL works. At this post here- #1
Induction is the first 2 weeks of Atkins. If you chose to move onto OWL, (your third week), then you would be on Rung 1 Veggies now, which is 5 more grams of veggies from the acceptable lists, from what you were allowed on Induction. Here's the acceptable food list allowed for Atkins-
