  • I fell off the horse!!

Well, I fell off the horse but I'm back up there again!!

My husband and I were about 3 1/2 weeks into a cheat-free, clean Induction when we were sabotaged!! (sp?) I know that I can't blame other people for my dieting mishaps-- it's completely our own responsibility to see to it that we're making the right choices, but this time we were mis-informed!

I was excited to see that I'd lost another 2 lbs. on Thursday, putting my total lost at 9 lbs. and my family invited us over for dinner. My mom knew the hubby and I were doing Atkins, so she said she'd grill us some chicken, make a nice big salad, and steam some squash for us. When I asked her what sort of sauce she'd used on the chicken, she told me a soy sauce, which is almost always very low carb. However, when I tested my KetoStix Friday morning, sure enough, I was completely out of ketosis!!

Saturday we had a big family reunion, I'd planned on sticking to my diet, but since I was already out of ketosis, I figured, what's the point? I ate plenty of carbs. on Saturday and felt sick over it. I weighed again on Sunday am and I was up 2 1/2 lbs!! I started back into Induction again Sun. am, I'm just hoping it won't take too long to drop the 2.5 pounds of damage I did to myself on Saturday.

    Happy Low-Carbing everyone,

    Danielle

    Hey Danielle,

Hate to hear about the mishap, but the great thing is that you fell and got right back up. I'm sure it won't take long to lose the 2.5 pounds. You're doing great!!!! Stay focused and you'll be where you want to be in no time. Actually you're post is encouraging b/c the frig here at work is full of junk food all types of pasta's, sweet breads, candy, cookies and pizza. It's enough to drive me crazy. But i'm determine not to fall off the horse as you say.

That is the one thing I love about this diet, knowing that if you cheat you have to get right back into ketosis. It really keeps me from cheating cos I don't want to have to start over again but other diets are so easy to say just one won't matter, and one leads to another. Your very lucky you just got out of it for a day and jumped right back in. good for you!

Thank you both for the reply! I'm glad I went right back on it because when I think about the cheating now-- it really wasn't worth it. It tasted good, but not THAT good. It was like "yeah, I've had this before, bfd." LOL. :0) Plus, I started feeling very sick after all that sugar so I'll think a little harder to weigh my options next time I feel like cheating.

It kind of sounds like your mom meant well with making the dinner Atkins friendly as she knew. Good for you learning to remember not to rationalize or blame someone else for your actions

Remember that food takes up mass in your body and the salt content will make a difference, too. I bet you'll be back down to where you were before then in no time.

            GOOD morning everyone! :0)

I just thought I'd give a quick update-- I'm officially BACK in ketosis! After my day long cheat on Saturday, I'm finally back to where I started! Yay!!

The sticks aren't always correct either. The first time I did induction (totally clean) I hardly ever even had a light pink result but I had lost alot of inches ( i wasn't exercising either) i lost very few lbs during induction, maybe 4 total and I was almost 300 lbs then. What I noticed most about this program is that you can be 230 lbs and be a size 18, and years before I was a size 18 at 180!

Just don't always get discouraged by the color of the sticks. Congrats on your 20 lb loss!
