  • New and need support/help!!??

Hi I started induction on 8/2/08. Was really excited, didnt feel hungry, had no problem with following the "rules". On morning of the 9th day I was down 4.3 lbs. I was happy with that considering i only have about 23 lbs. total to lose. But, yesterday I bought ketostix, thought they looked negative and was totally discouraged, but this morning it was in the small range. For some reason, I am totally questioning everything I eat now. I am using fitday and my #'s are 47% fat, 7% carbs and 46% protein. Here is a sample of my typical days menu:
    Breakfast
    2 egg whites
    3 piece turkey bacon
    cracker slice of cheddar cheese

    Snack
    Atkins advantage shake

    Lunch
    2 cups romaine lettuce
1.2 cup ground turkey with taco seasoning
    1/4 cup cheddar cheese

    Dinner
    grilled chicken breast
    1/2 cup broccoli with butter
    2 slice tomato
    1 cup diet jello

    1015 calories
    51.2 grams fat
    17.3 carbs
    107.9 protein

Any advice, comments on menu, support anything? I will take it all!!
Thank you to everyone who helps ** Angela

Any color on the ketostix means you are in ketosis. A person can also be in ketosis and not have any color. Jimmy Moore has a good video on You Tube explaining how to interpret ketostix readings.

You're way beyond the expected loss during the first 2 weeks... 5-10 percent of goal to lose.

You're doing great... don't lose site of the prize... During induction though, you should be at 65% fat, 30 protein and 5 percent carbs..

Forget the sticks.. they are just a crutch.

Original goal: Lose 30 lbs by Mar. 1st, 2006. I made it!!!

Calling it GOAL at this point. I'm happy with where I am now and hope to stay there, or maybe even take it down a little more.

Up the fat percentages and you'll probably not be as hungry... the carbs are great! (This is not a high protein diet)

You are still doing great to start with!

Yes I agree with Rick, your fat intake was too low. You can eat a whole egg - cook in with butter, use some mayo or oil with your veggies perhaps. So your carb shows up that high because your fat was slightly low.

You may think twice about the Shake though. Not really induction friendly. And the jello probably have some aspartame. We try to avoid that sweetener. And remember there is a cheese limit. I am not sure how you measured that cheddar - probably grated (I which case you are good)
