300 or 30? I can't imaging a soup has 300 carbs unless it a dry soup...made up on nothing but sugar and flour

Re: I want to depart for a day

Well as my mother (who is a huge Atkins success story) says: "One cheat will undo three days of fat burning".

So you may or may not gain the weight entirely back but you will undo everything you have done for the last three days and it could take you a while to get back into fat burning mode.

I'm re-starting for the hundredth time and that is the main thing I tell myself because I am working so hard to lose the weight one cheat isn't worth undoing three days worth of work. Just my opinion, the decision is yours.

Re: I want to depart for a day

          Hi,

          My best advice would be:

          "Don't eat the noodles"

Look over the menu and try to find a dish that is protein and veggies. You can ask for them to put the sauce on the side or skip it altogether. Stay away from the rice too. How about pho, no noodles?

You can also make your own low carb pho at home:

          10 c. chicken broth
          1 yellow onion, thickly sliced
1 1/2 pieces peeled fresh ginger
          3 large garlic cloves, halved
          1 1/2 tsp whole cloves
          12 oz. shrimp, peeled, cleaned
          2 raw chicken breasts, cubed
2 tbs. nam pla (fish sauce, look for one with no sugar)

          Garnishes: (choose one or all)
8 oz. pack of bean sprouts
4 springs fresh mint leaves, seperated
          1/2 bunch cilantro, leaves seperated
          fresh lime cut in quarters
          bunch of green onions, sliced

Combine chicken broth, sliced yellow onion, sliced ginger, fish sauce, whole cloves, cubed chicken and garlic cloves in a heavy soup pot and simmer for 30 minutes. In the last five minutes add the shrimp and sliced green onions and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Strain the broth into a separate tureen or serving pot, and add back the cooked chicken and shrimp; discard the rest. Place the garnishes in separate bowls so diners can create their own soups.
          Serves 8

4 grams of carbs per serving

          Val

Gosh, I love Pho and I was just thinking about it the other day, how much I missed it and how I could eat it now, Atkins style. I think Val had it right...if you don't make it yourself, and simply must have it, go for it without noodles, and I'm sure it can't be that bad.
I mean the meat is always okay, and you can guesstimate the veggies in there.

By the way Val, thanks for the recipe....guess who will be trying that sometime this week? LOL.

Well the whole point of eating pho is to eat it with the noodles. Just drinking the broth is definitely not the same.

We're not saying it's the same, we're just providing some advice on alternatives so not to stray from this WOE
