  • Online free food journal besides fitday.com?

    Hello everyone.

I find that I don't like the new changes at fitday.com. And I don't know why, but now it is very slow loading and I have a new computer so I don't understand that. And to be honest, every once in a while I found the counters off and I would have to put the item in as a custom food, which was kind of a pain over and over again.

So........anyone use something else that they have been happy with that is free? Let me hear your ideas cause I'm using nothing now except just writing down my carbs. I liked seeing the percentages of fat/carb/protein also, so I miss that. I'd like a site that has that tool.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I love Dailyplate.com. It will give you the percentages in a pie chart, let you add foods or recipes, and is all free. I think Sparkpeople.com also has a food tracking one in it but it's been a while since I've been there.

As Lyssie mentioned, sparkpeople.com is a good site. I really enjoy it. And if you get into entering your food and exercise, you get points and little jpg awards that is fun. After you enter the food for the day, you have to go to the report to get your splits. But there is so much on the site, I really like it. You can get as involved as you'd like on the site. There's even low carb Spark Teams.

I'm a major fan of thedailyplate.com - super awesome tracking site for both food and exercise.

I second sparkpeople.com I live on that site and this one... I didn't find as much support for low carbing there, a lot of people think Atkins is too extreme. But there are some low carb teams that are great with challenges etc... When I'm not here I'm there! I'm BonnieRose16 there too if you decide to join!

Thanks all for the replies. You guys are great!

Can you just tell me one more thing? Do both of these sites calculate net carbs? Thanks

Re: Online free food journal besides fitday.com?

ok. I went to thedailyplate and input some items and I'm trying to see my carb/protein/fat count and I can't get it. Am I doing something wrong?

I get a pie chart but it's calories not carb/protein/fat. I did input in the beginning that I wanted to track carbs.

I don't know..........is the fitday that costs $20 better than the free online fitday? Maybe I'll just spend the $20. I'm so used to how fitday is set up. I love that all my info is on one page and I can see it. Heaven knows I've spent $20 on dumber things...........like Nutrisystem! Oh, I shouldn't remind myself of that one!

                I love high-fat foods! Yum!

To answer the last post (yeah, I see it's from August so I'm a bit late) - thedailyplate gives you all your totals at the bottom of what you've eaten for the day. The pie chart, if you put your mouse over it, will show the percentages related to where your calories came from.
