  • Plateau???

Hey everyone. Okay, so I started atkins induction on July 28th, I lost about 7.5 lbs initially and have been stuck since. Are these luls normal? I was told by someone that all at once, I may see a big drop on the scale, can I look forward to this????
Anyone with more experience that has advice to give, would be great!

      Re: Plateau???

It's very normal to hit plateau's in this journey. Most people will lose a good deal, immediately, then hold still while the body holds on to some of the water that you lost at first. But don't worry, if you stick with it you'll get a whoshie and may lose 3 or 4 lbs in one day as your body realizes that you're not going to starve it. There's really no way to predict when you'll hold even, or when you're going to lose some really fast. The important thing is to make it through those plateaus and not get discouraged.

Stick with it, don't go for one week and get desparate... or even two. Besides, even if the scales don't show it for a while, I bet the clothes do!

Stay with the eating guidelines, get some exercise and drink the water... You'll be happy that you did.

Calling it GOAL at this point. I'm happy with where I am now and hope to stay there, or maybe even take it down a little more.

        Echo Rick

But also, measurements, too will tell if you're really plateaued or just re-arranging the fat in your body and the scale needs to catch up.

Exercise, not enough water, etc. will cause you to not see a new number on your scale as well

          Hi Susan!

My boyfriend and I also started Atkins on July 28th. I lost a little over 6 lbs during the first two weeks and my bf (who wants to lose a total of 30 lbs) lost about 8 during the same time frame. Last week (our third week on Atkins) he didn't lose any weight. Since I decided I would weigh myself every two weeks, I don't know if I lost any weight last week. However, my bf stepped on the scale yesterday (second day of our fourth week on Atkins) and surprisingly found out that he had dropped another 3 lbs within a couple of days. So, I guess you just have to be patient and don't get discouraged if you don't see results right away.

              Re: Plateau???

i myself have never had a woosh.. you know where you all of a sudden lose 5-10 lbs seemingly over nite. however.. i have stalled a bit... its a learning experience..you learn what your body can and cannot handle..also your body is getting used to letting some of the fat go. . it needs time to adjust... also if you are working out at all you can be building muscle..even walking will build musle.. so you must remember to measure as muscle weighs more than fat...but if you are 200 lbs of fat.. who works out and builds muscle and is losing fat.. then you are still 200 lbs but are losing inches..
              1lb fat = softball size
1 lb muscle = golfball size

therefore 200 lbs of muscle is a lot smaller than 200 lbs of fat but the scale is the same

              hope this helps some
