I am five days in to the induction phase and am terrified to weigh myself. If I haven't lost anything I may quit. I have cut out caffeine and alcohol and am only having about 20-25 carbs a day. What should I expect if I weigh myself this early?

    Re: 5 days in

First rule I've learned on Atkins -DON'T JUDGE YOUR SUCCESS BY THE SCALE!!!!! That has, hands-down been my downfall on every diet I've ever been on.

I keep reminding myself about a story I read either here or on one of the many many blogs I've googled up abut a woman who went from a size 22 to a 16 before her scale started showing a drop. Go by how you feel (more energy? happier? cravings gone?) and how your clothes fit, than what the scale says. Plus - you're ONLY 5 days into it - give it time!!! Atkins is a *lifestyle* change, not a quick diet. You can do it!!!

Nobody can really predict, though Dr. Atkins says that you can expect to lose between 5-10% of your total loss during the initial 2 weeks of induction.

It seems that those who have a lot to lose, will lose more quickly in the beginning.

You really shouldn't approach this with an attitude that you will quit if you don't lose x number of pounds in x number of days.

Eat according to plan, drink your , and don't forget to .

      Good luck to you!

Calling it GOAL at this point. I'm happy with where I am now and hope to stay there, or maybe even take it down a little more.

I agree, you have to be determined to succeed. As Neecy stated this is a lifestyle and not quick diet. Take one day at a time and do not focus on tomorrow or the next day. It's going to be tough but well worth the work.

Welcome to the board! There is a lot of support here and no need to weigh if you don't want to, although it is helpful to guage progress and determine your CCL as you move on.

Are you following the book tothe letter? You say 20-25 carbs, but on induction you are allowed 20 carbs maximum and only from certain sources. It is the DANDR 2002 edition. Good luck

Thanks for all of the support. This has not been that hard until now, 6th day. I am not a big drinker but for some reason I am craving a beer, not sweets. What's up with that? I walk for one hour at 3.3 mph on my treadmill daily. I went ahead and weighed myself, 3 lbs. gone. Now I just need to deal with my cravings. I would have went and bought a six pack of Michelob Ultra if I had not have gotten on the computer and checked my messages. Thanks everyone!!!!! Marla
