  • Atkins is magic : but is it for everyone?

This diet basically saved my life. But it confused me as to why so many people critisize it when it works so well.

I don't like inconsistancies like this and luckily I stumbled upon the Blood-type diet at wiki. (I was jsut curious about blood types generally)
Blood type diet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    To summurise this article.

People with blood type O (most of us) should follow the atkins model.
Thus I must be blood type O because it works so well for me.

But people with the less common blood types (A, B, AB)
    should not.

Of course, I cannot change my blood type to see.
And I cannot find any references to blood type within the Atkins model.

I also do not have the capacity to do a survey as to which blood types most Atkins users are.

    Any thoughts?

IS there anyone here that has benefitted from the Atkins diet that is NOT blood type O??

Anyone checked the blood type of the nay-sayers??

I could never understand why some people were so hostile to Atkins when it did wonders for me.

    Perhaps this will explain it?

I am just theorising of course, and would appreciate it if someone with a wider knowledge could prove the theory right or wrong.

My opinion on the naysayers is that I will bet the majority did not read the book and believe the hype that you eat no carbs or all the fat you WANT versus need. Or if they did they didn't follow it as written. Spend some time answering the newbies and you will come across many posts of "I don't understand why I am not losing weight when I have followed induction strict and am eating hardly any carbs. Or they are not eating their 3 cups of veggies. Or they are eating the Atkins frankenfoods or low carb tortillas or nuts...etc...etc..etc. Or they haven't got the book. Throw those into the mix and it really affects the results of the theory...or I guess...it would prove that those with type O also don't always do well on this diet...or to be more specific..what they think Atkins is.

BTW...there is a diet out there that dictates what diet you should be on according to your blood type.

this culture has been brain washed into a low fat, no red meat mentality... then you go and throw in fat is ok.. red meat is ok.. (then they stop listening) and say that its bad.. bad... bad...

Blood type A and I've lost 130 lbs on Atkins and have been maintaining for close to 2 years. I do believe the blood type issue is a little irrelevant

I agree with Jace. In fact I'll go a step further and say I think it's hogwash. However, a lot of people who haven't done their research would say the same thing about Atkins so I try to keep an open mind.

Yeah, me too. I don't believe blood type has any thing to do with it. But who knows? Interesting poll.

BTW, I am Type O and have lost 90 pounds. I've tried them all, and Atkins is the only way of eating that has ever worked for me.

Sugarsack is right, society has been brain-washed into thinking red meat is bad for us. THAT is hogwash! I have read the Eat For Bloodtype book and the other books this man has written on the blood type subject. It fits me to a 't', but probably isn't 100%.

I have the book you are referring to, "Eat Right For Your Type" My mother gave it to me. I read it. My opinion of the book it, it is just too hard and too complex, trying to figure out what you can and cannot eat. Could you imagine a family with all four blood types and trying to prepare dinner?

                      Besides, Atkins works!

I have the book as well, and when you think about it, there has to be a valid reason why there are so many different blood types.
