  • What event do you want to look good for?

Does anyone have an upcoming event that helping to keep them motivated to lose weight?

I'm trying not to pin myself down to a certain weight by a certain time, for me all that does is add pressure and make me feel like I've failed if I don't meet that goal, but I know I definitely want to look better for my daughter's birthday party in late September. We're throwing her a 100 day party (it's a Korean custom) and I want to feel better about how I look by then. I've definitely been shying away from taking pictures with her because I'm not happy with how I look - it makes me sad that I'm missing out on capturing those memories because of my insecurities. So I really want a picture with her and my husband to remember the day. I keep that goal in the back of my mind when things get tough.

So what's a fun occasion that you're working towards?

    I have a couple.

    1. Christmas; a tradition I started with my family is that we take our family portrait every year to put in our Christmas cards.
    2. My brother-in-law is getting married in May, and I'm the MOH!!! This is the first wedding party I've ever been a part of. I weighed a lot when I got married so there are only a few pics of my wedding that I actually liked. This time around (even though it's not my wedding) I WILL look good in every picture!

    P.S. Good post!

              1. January is renewal for insurance, I was denied because of being morbidly obese. I am going to reapply. I am going to blow up and frame the denial letter and stick it on my living room wall as a reminder to NEVER get back to that horrible place in my life.

              2. Second is Christmas. I want to buy a very sexy dress for our Christmas dinner party that I host every year with friends.

My DH and I are moving to Pittsburgh, PA, from Greeneville, TN (my hometown), in March. I'm going straight from country life to city life, and I really don't need the stress of being overweight when I get there on top of the stress of changing my whole environment. I need to lose at least 50 lbs. by then to get back to a weight I can live with. I am at 196 lbs. right now and on the rise!

Re: What event do you want to look good for?

We have our annual sales meeting coming up on Sept 4th. I have been doing everything I can to look like management material. Not that there are any openings right now but I want the uppers to know at least I look the part. I have been doing everything from whitening my teeth, to tanning, to losing as much as I can by then, to working out so I can walk up stairs without getting out of breath and sweating, and buying several hundreds of dollars of new clothes and shoes for this event. The final event is an awards dinner that is formal. I have a slinkly black dress I am wearing, and I want to look the best I can anyway in that dress. I am exited about it and nervous at the same time. I don't think I will get any type of an award but have already been warned if you do get one to be prepared to make a speech.

My goal is to begin getting around people who knew me 'when'.
I have a Drivers License photo for next year and need a real face, not a ball of fat with two eyes.
I want to get a job without being discriminated against for my weight.
Finally, I'd like to quit making excuses for not seeing my sorority sisters and old friends!
