  • Equipmentless workouts?

Hi, I wont be getting a recumbent bike till late september. And there are no affordable gyms here. Does anyone know a good workout uh.. Dvd? Like a thing I can do everyday. I have weights so that is good. I've tried doing crunches and situps. (Kind of sad looking.. I got leaughed at once)

I don't have any type of gym membership. I just jog for like half a mile and do pushups and situps every day and it seems to work fine for me.

I do jazzercise nearly every day. No equipment needed, except hand weights and you can do without those too if need be. You can get a DVD from their web site if there is not a jazzercise near you. They are very inexpensive compared to a gym. Zumba is another excellent dance work out video series. You can get them from ebay or the zumbo web site.

You know what I would like to find? (You'll probably laugh) the old original "Jane Fonda's Workout" - you know the one - complete with crazy characters and 80's hair - on DVD. I remember giving it a try when I was a teen and I ENJOYED it, but gave up because I was on the wrong diet at the time and got defeated.

I saw a copy of that old tape in a charity shop the other week! Maybe your local ones will have a copy?

I've seen it on VHS but I no longer have a VHS player, just DVD. Hopefully they'll put it on DVD one day, or I'll find a way to get somebody to make a copy to DVD for me.

Maybe if you ask around one of your friends or family has a VHS to DVD recorder and could copy it to a DVD for you?

My husband is gradually copying all his favourite VHS tapes onto DVD's and donating them, and while he is in the charity shops even buying (cheap as they are old-fashioned) other VHS tapes he never bought in the past.

We do one of the prevention fitness DVD's that we picked up at Wal*Mart. You can also order them online
                  Rodale Store

The one we have is the walking workout DVD. It's nice because it has different routines for different days of the week.

I swear by Tae-Bo. I have probably 10-15 different DVD's, and rotate them so I don't get bored.

I walk and that's about as cheap as it gets.

What a coincidence. I was helping my Mom get ready for a garage sale and I think I saw that in her pile of VHS tapes. Do you want me to check? I can call her. I am going to her house on this weekend to help with the sale and can get it for you. We were laughing at the 80's leotards, so I remember seeing it. Just let me know.

I run... and have free weights... I do various DVDs when I get bored (my gym is close to work so I only go if I'm there) including Bodukon, Jillian's 30 Day Shred, Biggest Loser Cardio Max, Tae Bo (oldie but goodie), and pilates. I have Carmen Electra's strip tease, but didn't find it that amusing...

I wish I could find this old Kathy Ireland workout video that I was madly in love with - I suppose I could order it online but I'm just too lazy.

                            Re: Equipmentless workouts?

I walk or ride my bicycle around a track. I also do good old fashioned Phys Ed. exercises: push ups, windmills, sit ups, etc. and I do dumb bells and those exercise bands.

I do yoga three times a week---it's great for improving your balance, strength and coordination plus it's a great work out. Everyone usually rolls their eyes when I say yoga builds up a sweat, because they think of yoga as sitting, cross-legged on the floor, with eyes closed, chanting a mantra or something like that. But the poses, the asanas, are challenging and you get a good work out.

You might want to borrow some exercise tapes from your public library too.
