www.lowcarbgrocery.com
They ship all over Canada and have a store in Markham, Ontario so you can save on the shipping costs if you're anywhere near there.

Re: Where do canadians...
Hi,
I used to order a lot from the Low Carb Grocery but stopped a few months ago. You are better off focusing on real food - meat, veggies, cheese, cream, butter, etc.
If you want to go ahead and try some of the products, you may want to look at the Davinci syrups to use in coffee or some sauces to occasionally use with meat. Most of the other foods are what I call "Frankenfood" and are full or preservatives and funky ingredients. Many people find that their weight loss slows or stops altogether when using these products. Poke around the website and try a couple of things. Be careful with the sweets, most have generous amounts of sugar alcohol which causes cramps and the runs in most people.

My vote is for the real foods. And just to point out if you are in induction none of those things are legal. That being said for later on...you may want to check out a health food store...you may be pleasantly surprised. Just my 2 Canadian cents....LOL!Elsie150

Great tips, thanks
What do you buy in the health food stores? Ingredients? After my induction I would like to purchase or even make low carb bread and not so much focus on the treats. Perhaps the health food stores will come in handy then

Do you make traditional Canadian meals? I live in QC, so the traditional poutine is a big no-no...lolStarted January 6th 2003 / 200/164/140

Re: Where do canadians...
Had to Google that treat! At first I thought ya'll were a little over the top with poutine until I realized here in New Mexico we make something called chile cheese fries with melted cheese, hot green chile and fresh hot fries! Both treats are for sure a Atkins "no no" to say the least!

Re: Where do canadians...
Oh chili-cheese fries are to die for!!! I'm wondering if zucchini "french fries" and a low-carb gravy would work. I remember telling my US friends about poutine and seeing them say "Ewwww you put cottage cheese and gravy on fries??" not realizing they thought "cheese curds" meant cottage cheese when in the case of poutine it means cheddar cheese curds before the've been "ripened" (they look and taste almost like mozzarella.) This might be somethign to try higher up the OWL ladder, but its an idea!Originally posted by Tuliedave View PostHad to Google that treat! Re: Where do canadians...
I'm not sure where you live but the is a "Low carb store" in toronto. There is a flax seed granola with cinnimon that is awesome. There are low carb pita's. You can do lots with them i.e make pizza's, sandwiches or dip in dip. The cookies are gross (my opinion). They also have 1 carb Heinz ketchup as well as B.B.Q sauce. It's very expensive. They have so much but I agree try to stick to the natural. Goos luck and let me know if you need anymore info.

Re: Where do canadians...
Hi,
How about covering steamed cauliflower florets with gravy (made from beef drippings and not starch) and cheese curds or making cauliflower or zucchini bread sticks (from cleochatra) and covering those with gravy and cheese? I have eliminated cheese for two weeks or I would try it.

Try making your gravy from beef drippings and sour cream, salt and pepper. I have done this with turkey drippings also. Just make a little in a cup first to see if you like it before you make the whole batch.Elsie150
