  • Push needed please! :-)

Hi guys. Ugh. I have had an awful week ...it started with 'just one bite' won't hurt. And, ended with a french bread pizza.

I HAVE to get back on track, I was doing so well. Help/Support/Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Things have just ben so stressful at work that I just wasn't paying attention to what I was eating. I would start the day okay and by lunch be lucky to be able to eat anything; which, of course, caused a total pig out by dinner.

Not a great reason, but I need to get better at handling these situations. I really thought I had this down. Ugh. I'm so mad at myself!!

    Re: Push needed please!

    Hi Hoping,

Don't be too harsh on yourself. We sometimes stumble and fall but the most important part is how we get up and get back on track again.

I'm not really expert on this, but for me it is very critical that even we are stressed, we should still mind what we take in. Eat on time so you don't pig out on the last meal of the day. Planning is also important. You could have less chances of failing if you plan the first thing. Drink a lot of water it will help you satisty yourself, if not hunger at least you would feel full.

You can do it! We all can...

      Re: Push needed please!

      Hey, here is a push!

YOU are the only one who can control what goes into your mouth and in retrospect after pigging out you have to be able to admit that you did exactly what you wanted to do. SO you have to ask yourself the question " JUST how badly do you want to lose weight and find health?" and " AM I really committed to this Way of Life?"
Answer those questions, write them down on a card and put them on your desk at work. and in the drawer below these cards have a tupperware bin of low carb options handy so you can look at the cards and reach for the high protien snacks unstead of carb loaded crap. YOU have to be mindful every moment of the kind of food that goes into your mouth, ESPECIALLY in the beginning, until you have created the NEW habit of avoiding high carb crap... and trust me you do develop that habit. My awareness of the carb count of food is incredible I am like a bloodhound who can find the scent...
You also have to make a decision that you ARE living the low carb lifestyle and that you ARE losing weight... as long as you say I am trying to do atkins, and I am trying to do well... that is just exactly where you will stay....

I AM... is a powerful action statement....
I am trying... is a qualified weaker version...

      ITS ALL ABOUT VISUALIZATION BABY!!!

In my bin of low carb goodies... a boiled egg, a couple pepperettes, some celery, sliced cukes, cubed cheese, an icepack, some sliced meat, a small tin of tuna, a fork, some hunks of cauliflower... I dive in whenever I need to and get busy with something while chomping away and soon enough my distraction for carbs is gone...

      YOU can do this!

      SERIOUSLY...

don't be hard on what you have already done, look forward not back.

ONE of the best things I heard while watching the show the biggest loser... was when the make trainer said to one of the contestants

"THIS WEIGHT DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU"

after I heard this, first my eyes popped out of my head, I had never before heard a statement like that, I had never thought of my overweight as an object I possessed, and then I cried my eyes out in recognition that I had indeed been possessing this weight.... It was a pivotal moment for me... do you have a pivitol moment?
Recalling that moment keeps me on track...
