  • Is Bacon Soup Ok?

Lately I have been craving for a nice warm soup. I am under induction, its the end of my second week very soon. I plan to stay on induction for a while.

Here's my self made Bacon soup

    4 cups of water
2 knorr chicken cubes - stuff you use to make broth - the label says that one cube has lass then 2 carbs
    4 slices of bacon

all brought to a nice boil

really yummy chicken like soup comes out...nice and steamy

is this induction acceptable? even thought the little knorr thing says it contains some sugar and starch, its a really small cube...and the label says less then 2 carbs for one cube...

    thoughts?

That sounds good but my honest thought is that you cant have those cubes in induction, even if the starch and sugar is a small amount, it still isnt allowed. Those also have TONS of sodium which I would be wary about because of water retention. I think a better option next time would be to look for a good low carb/low sodium chicken stock in a carton or make your own stock and keep it in the freezer. Its super easy to make your own and then you can even use the shredded, cooked chicken in your soup too Otherwise that recipe sounds fine to me, I would probably put a few veggies in it too. Its a very versatile base for a lot of yummy soups and stews

Don't do it. Go for the chicken broth or stock instead. Even though it says less than 2 carbs per cube that is almost 4 carbs out of your 20 for the day. Also...bad habit to be getting into the habit of 'it's just a tiny amount of carb and sugar'. One of the purposes of induction is get rid of your bodies addictions to certain things. You are worth doing it the right way for a clean 2 week induction!! Here is a link to a site that has some induction legal recipes. Just double check against the list to make sure every thing is legal. Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home
