  • Lesson Learned

I joined this forum when I lost 40 lbs, which was a week ago today. This tied the most I have ever lost on a weight loss program. I even lost the weight faster than I did the last time. Wow, look at me!

So what did I do? I celebrated. What did I celebrate with?

    Food

    Oops!

I went to a movie with my wife. I got a small popcorn and a large diet coke, not caffeine free. Other than that I did not eat out of the ordinary. I did not think it could be humanly possible, but I managed, from morning to evening in the same day to gain 11 pounds!

I did drink a lot of water, I just could not believe I could gain that much weight in one day. It has taken me until today to loose all the weight I gained. I am now one pound lighter than last Sunday morning.

Hindsight is 20/20, it is so easy to see how this diet works and works well. However, I cannot cheat on this diet, not even a little.

      Re: Lesson Learned

Here's another lesson. Take it with a grain of salt...
      NOT literally, though!

Yesterday, my carbs were around 10-15 g, calories were under 1000 yet, this morning the scales did indeed declare " Nya, nya, - you gained 6 pounds since yesterday morning when you last weighed! Phttttpphbbt !!"

No, I DID NOT! I was simply holding 6 (or more) pounds of extra water, only it was inside me instead of in my hand, in a bottle. How? There was considerable SALT in the crab I ate with my butter and sauteed tomatoes and squash blossoms!

Salt causes your body to retain water. (Sudden loss of body salts is partially responsible for induction flu symptoms as well as Whooshies, too.)

Make you a bet, that popcorn and soda were both high in sodium...

Congrats on your 40# loss, now, don't take a single scale reading so seriously, OK?

        Re: Lesson Learned

11 pounds in one day? Hmmm....that to me says food bulk and salt and liquid...or another issue you might have with allergic reactions. I might suggest you keep an eye out for what you're eating from here on out. You may have just figured out what one thing your body cannot tolerate in order to lose weight.

Enjoy finding a new way to celebrate (without food ).

Focus on your accomplishments to get you back in the game no matter how small they may be...your losing 40 pounds is a big accomplishment! Remember that part and keep going!
