  • Is it possible?

I need some help please. I have a brand new digital scale which I purchased a few months ago. When I weighed myself two days ago I weighed 297.3, yesterday I was 293.1, and get this: today it says I weigh 284.1! Is this possible? Anyone know if digital scales are reliable? I am in my second week of Induction, but this seems fast if true.

Yes, it's possible. Both times I did induction (separated by 7 years, lol) I had a dramatic weight loss. But, I think that's typical, because it's like our bodies just suddenly let go of a bunch of water weight. The weight loss stabilizes out after the first two weeks, even if you stay on extended induction, at least that's my experience.

One thing I do is only weigh once a week. It keeps me from going nuts because the scales can go up & down from day to day, depending on your weight, it can be 5-6 pounds different, which can be a psychological downer on days when it's +5-6 pounds and you know you didn't do anything wrong, lol.

Wow, that is quite a drop!
I have one question.......did you urinate like crazy yesterday? I know, we barely know eachother and I am asking such a personal question! LOL

Do you feel lighter? If not maybe you should exchange the scale for another and see if it says the same weight. If they are all calibrated correctly then you will know.

I cant wait to see if other people on the board have had similar experiences.

Are you weighing yourself at the same time every day. Personally i think that will make a difference.
As long as your weight seem's to be going down, then your laughing.
My digital scales seem to have a mind of their own. My reading's go down........and then go screaming back up again .
I'm going to stick to weighing myself once a week, then the result's won't be so frustrating.
Ketosis is still happening so i can't really fail.

The more you need to lose that faster you will lose on induction (then it'll probally slow down). I origanally needed to lose 130 pounds. I lost 17 pounds on induction in 2 weeks. Now I lose about a pound a week. The first scale I got, I could tell was not accurate. This one I have now is great. And I weigh every morning. After I pee but before doing anything else. Keeps me accountable.

              Re: Is it possible?

It is possible - you could have been retaining extra water or had intestinal bulk adding to the first weigh number; you could have drank insufficient water and been dehydrated when you weighed last; the scales could be unreliable... a number of factors can help:

Use an average of weigh readings as your weight; plus you may wish to skip a certain number of days each month or around times when you consumed excessive amounts of salt.

Weigh first thing in the morning (after using the bathroom; before dressing)

Make sure the scales are level and you stand with weight distributed evenly on the scales, (you don't want to be touching anything else nor forcing your weight towards front/back/side of scale.

You can be sure if you get a "false" high or low reading, the numbers will eventually swing back the other weigh! LOL

I hav a set of scales I can stand on and depending on how my feet are positioned I can gain / lose weight while standing there...

                Hey Razzle39,

Yes I've been going to the bathroom like crazy. I can't go through the whole night without going! Anyhow, I had some chicken salad and checked again, and it said I was back up to 291, so who knows? I have been weighing around the same time every day though.

                  Re: Is it possible?

Its water fluctuations. Especially in those first two weeks, water fluctuations can happen from one hour to the next it seems. We all go up and down in weight over the course of a day so its good that you are weighing yoursef at the same time each day. I only weigh myself once a week or sometimes less because I love the dramatic numbers and it helps me to not get frustrated over those small daily fluctuations. You are doing great though, stick with it and you will see results!
