  • Net carbs?

Okay we have multiple birthdays coming up and I am going to be making the cakes and buying the ice cream and chips. UGH!

I want to have one Atkins shake (strawberry- 2 carbs 2 dietary fiber and 1 sugar) (caramel fudge brownie bar 19 carbs dietary fiber 9 and sugars 1)

So how the heck do I figure that up? The front of the containers say ("only 1 net carb for the shake and 2 for the bar"). That doesn't make since to me. I thought we were to take the total fiber (bar=19 and subtract the fiber 9 that gives me 10 carbs! ) So what am I suppose to go by????

    Someone please help!

Check the sugar alcohols. Those have to be subtracted as well.

But be aware that to some of us, sugar alcohols ARE digested and so we should count them all!

My own rule of thumb is that if I don't get the 'bathroom effect' from them I shall count all those pesky SA carbs and only if they do visibly 'pass through me' should I deduct them.

Can you not make your own lowcarb 'treat' instead if you feel you will be tempted? There are many good recipes in the Food & Recipes forums as well as elsewhere on the board.

I make flourless/sugarless cakes and desserts often for my husband who has a really sweet tooth, so it is not too hard to do. I have taken them along to family celebrations and other family members who are not lowcarbing seem to like them too.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I planned on counting them all. The bar says 19 the drink says 2. So that leaves me with 3 carbs for the rest of the day.

But then you will not be getting 'most' of your carbs from your vegetables as the good Dr A advised us

If you want cake you can order low carb cake mix here

Dixie Diners Club Carb Counters Cake Mixes

I am planning on ordering the Snackn cake mix- choc cake with frosting (only 2 net carbs per piece!). I am going to make it and then cut it up and freeze the pieces individually so when holidays or birthdays come up i am ready.

They also have brownie mixes too.

Do check the list of ingredients for whichever phase of Atkinsyou are at (below the nutrition info) as I looked at some of the mixes and they had whey protein, corn starch, fruit concentrate and soybeans in them which would make them not 'legal' till the grains rung of OWL.
