Olives - Water Retention?

  • Olives - Water Retention?

    I don't eat olives but I read something online earlier this week and was wondering if other people had experienced it. Some website I read said that olives were known for their water retention properties. Is this true? If so, I definitely will be staying away from them.

    I happened to be looking up horseradish when someone mentioned here that it was a diuretic and found this info on olives.

    Well both green and black olives have massive amounts of sodium in them so ya, that can definitely make you retain water if you eat too many of them. I only eat them occasionally and havent had any problems.

      I think that if you stick to having them as an occasional addition to your menus like the other foods in the 'special category list' you should not have a problem. I only use a few of them as additions to recipes or as a garnish sprinkled over salads rather than eating them as snacks as I know I could easily overdo them and eat more than the limit.
