  • I cant go without bread!

Anyone else sick of hearing this comment when people ask what you are doing?

First, I think if you want it enough you will sacrifice what you have to to get it, so I tend to think comments like that are for the weak of mind.

But that aside, there are so many kind of low carb breads and buns and whatnot out there, not to mention those fabulous revolution rolls, I dont really feel I have sacrificed much! I mean I can still go to Outback and get my steak and enjoy it without much worry, how many people can say that of their diets! Plus I can still have sugar free pudding and jello and I can top it off with lots of fresh whipped cream, again who can say that of other diets?

I don't know, I guess all the misconceptions but get to me after a while. But I guess in the end, when I lose my weight, I'll be the skinny chick laughing so whatever right? LOL

Re: I cant go without bread!

oh yea, i USED to get sick of it. of course, to each his own. what REALLY aggravates me is when folks who are doing atkins tell me they can't live without bread......

OF COURSE YOU CAN LIVE WITHOUT BREAD i want to say.....eating is a conscious effort. losing weight and atkins is all about choice. make that choice. no one will force a piece of bread down your throat, right?

you have a great perspective about what you are doing. you will be able to say "yes, i can live without bread...and there is much less of me to do it with too!"

i survived without bread......and have 70 pounds GONE! hmmmmmm, what would i rather have....bread or those 70 pounds....i don't even need to give that a second thought.

live it up and enjoy....let those comments go in one ear and out the other!

      Can't just means Won't.

      I totally agree with MS ... !

Nothing I used to eat compares with how I feel and how I look after 6 years on Atkins !

Re: I cant go without bread!

For me it is a decision... pure and simple. I have decided. NO SUGAR. NO FLOUR. NOTHING WHITE. Sometimes peoples comments like that are hidden sentiments of sabbotoging the fact that we here have all made that same decision. People who question our methods are often simply challenged by our strength and power over our own lives.
I will never judge another for their choices and I will remain resolute in mine because I can see the results... 61lbs down and counting!!!!

Re: I cant go without bread!

I used to be one of those people who thought I couldn't go without bread. Turns out its easier than I thought. I also LOVE revolution/oopsie rolls and just the other day got a bacon cheeseburger from Wendy's - threw away their bun and cut an Oopsie in half and had my burger that way. Didn't even miss the bread.

A lot of people who haven't read DANDR or other low-carb books are confused when it comes to carbs. Some think that when you mention "carbs/sugar" they only think of things made with table sugar. Last week at a party I was offered a wine cooler, which I politely declined, and stated that I avoid things with sugar or HFCS in them. The hostess then brought me a bottle of beer saying that "Its made with HONEY, not sugar! Surely you can have that - honey is so natural and good for you!" She was shocked when I told her that honey has more carbs than sugar.

Sorry to be so dense, y'all ... but does someone have a linkie to the recipe for the infamous Oopsie Rolls? I'm been hunting around and can't find it; I'm salivating at the thought ... they sound great! (thinking about an Oopsie Burger even now )

Bread always leaves me wanting more. Especially toast. Eat two pieces, toast two more.. and even a couple more.

              Doing better without it!

I made meatloaf last night - and just had a slice of it with a lot of mayo on an oopsie, and a splash of Frank's Hot Sauce. This is going to become a staple - ground beef is cheaper than any meat available here right now and it tastes SO good!
