Re: Home made BBQ sauce!
EASY BARBECUE SAUCE
8 ounce can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup granular Splenda or equivalent liquid Splenda
1/2 teaspoon blackstrap molasses (I wouldn't use this. Isn't this sugar?)
1/2 teaspoon yellow mustard
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons liquid smoke
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Pinch allspice
Pinch cloves
Pinch cinnamon
Pinch celery seed
Bring all of the ingredients to a boil in a medium saucepan. Simmer over low heat for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. If you have the heat any higher, it will spit all over the stove and make a mess. Makes about 1 cup

Everytime I am tempted to use food to satisfy my frustrated desires, build up my injured ego, or dull my senses, I will remember,
That even though I overeat in private, my excess poundage is there for all the world to see.

Re: Home made BBQ sauce!
George Stella's low carb site had a great atkins friendly barbeque sauce that is likely lower in carbs than the above one. try a google search. There are probably a lot of sauces out there.
My own favorite bbq chicken is not "sauced" but IS full of flavor. I marinate the chicken for three-four hours in 1/2 water and 1/2 cider vinegar. Then I mix garlic powder, Lawry's seasoning salt, onion powder, paprika, pepper, (and whatever sounds good to you) in a bowl and sprinkle generously over both sides of the chicken before putting on the grill. Very tasty and no carbs!

Careful with the Lawry's. It says 0 carb but it is just rounded down. The second ingredient is sugar (just after salt) and it also has cornstarch. I am from Canada and we have Hy's seasoning salt here that is sugar free.

You are so right. I have actually been using another one, but Lawry's always pops into my mind. Thanks for the correction.
