  • Those magic round numbers

It is quite fun to watch your weight slip below round numbers. Depending on what units I measure my weight in, I can find quite a few psychologically important numbers at the moment.

After a hernia operation a Christmas and in spite of one of the worst UK summers on record I have managed to do quite a lot of cycling, and that has helps depress my weight. I am getting near the limit now so any loss is slow.

In UK we tend to weigh in Stones (14lb) and pounds. I have just slipped below 14.5 lb or 14st 7lb (this magic number is 203 lb as you count in the States). It is the weight I declare in my signature.

Today I am 14st 6lb (202lb) so the next magic number is 200lb (14st 4lb) and the magic number after that is 90Kg (198.4lb), which would be nice.

    But can I get to 14 stone (196lb)? Or even 195lb? That's 13st13lb or 88.5Kg.

Well, you can do anything with numbers, but it's fun.

And in all for this it is important to remember that, as you approach the end of the project, shape is more important than weight - for as you exercise you will gain heavy muscle in exchange for fat, so will look trimmer than you might expect at a given weight.

Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
    he said, 'Don't count calories.'

Atkins makes exercise mandatory - I took up cycling - see last pics at 203lb.
