  • Fitday DOES NOT match Atkins

    Okay, I've been doing this fitday thing and I am getting way different totals than with Atkins little chart in the front of the book. So what do I believe?

    Example: I had 3 fried eggs this morning
    Atkins = 3 carbs
    Fitday = 1.3

    What do you guys go by the most?

    I go by fitday which pulls it's values from the USDA nutritional database. For eggs, I use the "Egg, whole, cooked" then add what ever fat (be it butter, bacon drippings, etc) separately. Egg, whole, cooked lists carbs as 0.64 grams. On a normal label this would be listed as less than 1 gram, but I believe Dr. Atkins rounded up his numbers.

      I know what you mean. I find them confusing and don't know which to rely on. For example Atkins says that 1 cup of spaghetti squash has 4 grams of carbs. Fitday says 8(net)!! That's a HUGE difference if you are trying to keep your count under 20 for the day!

          It would help a lot if the different sources gave the weight of their cup measure. For example, 1C of cooked cubes weighs 5 1/2 oz in Fitday. I'm guessing that Atkins uses 1C of fluffed strands, which probably weighs less and is therefore less squash.
