    guess so!

You can also have additional carbs – every day:
    • Up to 4 ounces of cheese
    • 10 to 20 olives for a quick snack
    • Try 1/2 an avocado in your salad
    • An ounce of sour cream or three ounces of unsweetened cream for your coffee
    • Up to 3 tablespoons lemon or lime juice
    • One to two servings of Atkins bars or shakes. Check the package see which ones are right for Induction (less than 5 net carbs).

That must be from the current Atkins site. Dr. Atkins in his last book had this to say about the low-carb products, including his own.

      Convenience Foods
Although it is important that you eat primarily unprocessed foods, some controlled carb food products can come in handy when you are unable to find appropriate food, can't take time for a meal or need a quick snack. More and more companies are creating healthy food products that can be eaten during the Induction phase of Atkins.

It is fairly clear that Dr. Atkins meant them for only occasional 'when you can't do better' use. The current Atkins company wants to sell you more products than 'when you can't do better' would allow for. Your mileage may vary, of course, but unprocessed food is better.

One thing to watch with using protein shakes is that you might be adding too much protein to your food intake. Atkins is a high fat/medium protein/low carb regime, nto a high protein one. Dr Atkins warned us

make sure you are not consuming excess quantities of protein. When eaten to excess, protein converts to glucose.
You can use something like www.fitday to log your foods to make sure you are only eating around 30% protein to avoid this.

And for induction you should be using protein isolates, not plain protein powders, which should be left till the relevant rung of OWL - i.e. whey protein powder on the 2nd OWL rung, soy or pea protein powders on the 6th rung etc.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
