Hi, I've been doing atkins for 4 weeks now and have a question regarding ketosis. In the past few weeks i've upped my water intake considerably and have noticed that my urinalsysis readings have become inconsistent. it seems that during the day i am getting a lower concentration than when i wake up in the morning. I am wondering if this has anything to do with all the water i'm drinking diluting my ketone concentration in the test strips? Does anyone have any info regarding this? THanks

yep that sound about right. You dont need to check during the day. In the atkins (1999) book he recommended checking in the evening, but i know a lot of people prefer in the morning (he said that it gets more concentrated during the night that is why her prefered evening).25/F

Are you testing more than once a day? This is really unnecessary. Once you get into ketosis, you will stay in ketosis unless you eat enough carbs to put you out. So if you aren't cheating, (and it sounds like you are not!) there is no good reason to test more than every few days, if even then. Spend the money on food, not sticks!
Ketone 'concentration' will vary with water intake, exercise etc. and yes, can vary within a day.
