  • My saving grace!!!

    Hey all!

I have only added smart aleck comments thus far so I thought I'd actually contribute for once!

I'm 6 weeks in on Atkins. I've decided to stay on Extended Induction, and have lost 26 lbs in about 6 weeks. The weight FLEW off at first, but now its slow and steady.

So here's the reason for my post. I've tried numerous "low carb" prepared foods on my journey. Some are junk, some just ok, and some are surprisingly AWESOME.

Here's my Top 3 lifesavers...and please realize we all have different tastes so don't boo-hoo if you taste these and want to hunt my down and kick me in the !!!

    1. Mama Lupe's Low Carb Tortilla's

The BOMB DIGGETY! Only 3 net carbs...taste like the real thing...and only about 3 bucks for 10. Can't find locally so order online. I don't know the rules for naming other websites so I'll just saw it rhymes with Metrition.com.

    2. Dark Chocolate Almond Bark
First of all, I'm lucky, I don't have a huge sweet tooth. But since I've been on this diet I crave a lil bite of something sweet after dinner(and sometimes lunch). This stuff is amazing. I keep it in the freezer for maximum crunch. It's basically like a big ol chocolate bar with almonds. 8 carbs for the whole thing, but you wouldn't ever eat that much. I do 1 carb bites. Again, not found locally...rumor has, I found it on some site that rhymes with Marbsmart.com.

    3. Litehouse Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing

Why this dressing? Only 1 carb for 2 tablespoons. Tastes like the real deal Holyfield. Found at Target and Wallyworld.

So I'm sure someone's gonna come along a burst my bubble and tell me these 3 items are actual nuclear waste and full of hidden carbs. And that's ok.

    Bottom line?
They keep me on the diet.
    The weight is still dropping.
I don't feel the need to slap a small child when I see him eating french fries.

    Hope this helps!

Hate to be the first to burst your bubble

If you're having those tortilla's, your not doing 'extended induction' I don't know what the ingredients are, but i'd be willing to bet that there are at least a couple that are not onthe induction list, and are more likely on the higher OWL rungs (soy flour? soy? wheat gluten or wheat products?).

Beware of the almond bark, most likely has sugar alcohols and can stall, though this is not the case with everyone. Also, almonds are not allowed until the nut run on OWL.

As for litehouse dressing, it is the real deal! I love their dressings, they're awesome! No idea why they call them 'litehouse' I always thought that meant they were low fat..but they are not!

found the ingredients for the tortilla's, they're definately not allowed until the grains rung

        Re: My saving grace!!!

        LOL.

        I knew it was coming...

        Tortillas DO have Soy Flour.

        Bark DOES have maltitol.

So, you are correct, I'm NOT on Extended Induction.

Thank God my clothes size dropping rapidly and the scale numbers being lower every week is the true thing guiding my choices.

I'll report back if I stall but I'm sticking with this.

Thank you for doing the research I didn't.

The last thing I want is people to stall or gain weight because of my recommendations...

        THANKS AGAIN!!!

LMBO! Thanks for the info and the laugh! I haven't even started induction yet but have been reading, reading reading! I bought a scale today...which is a BIG deal for me! Haven't weighed myself yet...I am frightened..LOL!! I need to get the book and get on track Monday! Thanks for the laugh! I use to get sugar free chocolate from Asher's..It was very good. I know I can't have it during induction. Have a good night!
