    I went out for lunch and got what I thought was the best thing on the menu, a beef taco salad with lettuce, sour cream, 1/4 cup of red/green peppers, 1/4 cheddar/mozzarella (if that) no taco bits or shell...and no salsa. I had some avocado with it, and the beef seemed seasoned...not sure with what. The salad had italian dressing on it which i wasnt' expecting...but I still thought it was ok. When I came back to the office, I checked on the italian dressing...ok 2 carbs...I figure a few for the seasoning and salad bits to be safe...I checked on Calorieking.com and lots of them have like 40 carbs for the ones WITHOUT the shell???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Please, let me know did I screw up????

    Whatever it was, it was. Don't freak out just don't order it again. Drink lots of water and get right back on track. I once accidently drank some of my husband's sweet tea and I cried for over an hour. Going out to eat is always a bit scary for me. I try to order items that have as few ingredients as possible. I quiz the waiter but I think sometimes they say whatever they think I want to hear. You are ok! Don't be too discouraged.

      I agree with Allyscharm...whenever I go out I try to get like a simple cut of meat like steak, grilled chicken, that way you kinda know whats going on with it...

        Lots of times they fry the taco meat with starchy thickeners and other things to sauce it up. These add a lot of hidden carbs. Don't beat yourself up when you were trying to make good choices. Go on from here a little wiser. Its not the end of the world.

          i agree.. dont fret too much just keep going .. this is all a learning experience

          drink water and dont beat yourself up over it.. its ok ...

            Even with the seasoning on the meat 40 carbs seems alittle high to me. Part of the reason is probably because it was regular carbs and not net. Avocado has like 12 carbs for a california, and 27 for florida/mexico. But the good news is that it is mostly fiber. The california has like 3 net carbs and the florida/mexico has about 6.8 so that was probably why it was so high. I am better most of the carbs were fiber so dont beat yourself up, you most likely didnt go over too bad.
