  • My cheese has starch in it

The package of american cheese I bought and used, has starch in the ingredients. Is this ok? Also, here is a new rundown of my menu. Anyone see any mistakes?

    Breakfast: 3-5 eggs and water

Lunch: Hamburger patty w/cheese and 1 chicken breast w/ spinach and cucumber 2 quarts of water

Supper: 2 chicken breast over spinach and cucumbers 2 cups of water

I would drop the cheese (they put starch on shredded cheese to stop it sticking) and buy a block of cheese instead then grate it yourself.

The rest of your menu looks really tasty and legal as long as you are sticking to the 3 cups of veg and 3-4 ounces of cheese.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I didn't know shredded cheese had added starch I use alot of it too! Even though the label says less than one gram carb?? You shouldn't eat it?

Yes sadly I found this out, and have started grating my own cheese. They coat the cheese with potato starch to keep it from sticking. It's that same story where they don't have to post any carb content, if they keep the portion small and the content reads under zero. (tip: if you have kids, get them to shred it, lol)

American cheese isn't allowed on induction. The following cheeses are allowed during induction...
          cheddar
          cow, sheep and goat cheese
          cream cheese
          Gouda
          mozzarella
          Roquefort and other blue cheeses
          Swiss

As far as I know the list of induction-allowed cheeses is not exclusive - so any other cheeses which are also
full fat, firm, soft, and semi-soft aged cheeses
like the ones listed are OK.
So as long as the cheeses are not called 'processed cheese food' or contain starches but are 'fullfat aged cheeses' they would be fine.

American cheese is processed cheese. American cheese - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

              From the book...
OTHER FOODS THAT ARE ACCEPTABLE DURING INDUCTION

              Cheese

You can consume three to four ounces daily of the following full-fat, firm, soft and semi-soft aged cheeses*, including:

              cheddar
              cow, sheep and goat cheese
              cream cheese
              Gouda
              mozzarella
              Roquefort and other blue cheeses
              Swiss
*All cheeses have some carbohydrate content. The quantity you eat should be governed by that knowledge. The rule of thumb is to count 1 ounce of cheese as equivalent to 1 gram of carbohydrate. Note that cottage cheese, farmer's cheese and other fresh cheeses are not permitted during Induction. No "diet" cheese, cheese spreads or whey cheeses are permitted. Individuals with known yeast symptoms, dairy allergy or cheese intolerance must avoid cheese. Imitation cheese products are not allowed, except for soy or rice cheese but check the carbohydrate content.
